"From the Alarm Force Studios..."

Kind of surprised no one else has mentioned that they've phased out all mentions of "The Chris Thomas Studios" on 620 WDAE.

Look, I was never a fan of Chris'. I don't care about horse racing and I didn't like it when he would bring up his political views (politics have no place on sports radio, in my view), but that's still pretty scummy that they would remove the memorial name of the studio in name of the almighty dollar.

It's just as bad as when CBS/Infinity closed down their old Tampa studios by the airport and they had that memorial plaque of that programming director who died about 15 years ago, and instead of taking the plaque and putting it up in the remodeled St. Pete offices, they put it in storage where it sits today.

After a certain period of time, a memorial has little to no meaning and is not relatable to the younger and newer radio listeners, or viewers, for TV.

Chris Thomas died in 2004, that was almost a half a generation, now. Most of what people know, or remember, about a person's death after 10 years is legend.

RIP Chris, for those who remember, like me.

Gee, I always thought to memorialize someone was to attempt to keep their memory alive for young and old.... The world sure is changing....and not necessarily for the better...Are we going to dismantle the WWII memorial or the Viet Nam memorial....Maybe in a few more years...

I still hear guys saying Chris Thomas studios. They may not say it as much anymore, but they never say alarm force or whatever. Maybe some of their promos or whatever but I've never heard a host say it that way. That I can remember.

Alarm Force, like the endless stream of personal injury attorneys, sponsor the updates and get corporate naming rights. I always thought it was a very nice tribute to Chris Thomas and I hope the attorney understand that dropping his name is showing respect for the man who helped shape 620 into the dominating sports station it is.

We have dismantled Memorials. We do it alot.

They are called Cemeteries.

Go to New Jersey and ride the Garden State Parkway. When it was built in 1952, the road cut right through one. Interesting there are quite a few accidents around that area...

If I am correct, 100 years after the last person is buried, the cemetery land can be "re-purposed".

Go to Valley Forge, it is little more than a kids' playground.

Life goes on, I guess...

Duly noted. The original Tampa Stadium is now a parking lot. I've lost count of how many Buccaneer careers were buried there....

By the way, Alarm Force is a joke as far as a security company in my opinion. They are a Canadian company and their monitoring are in Canada. Have not heard many good things about them.

Of course, that fits them being an advertiser on talk radio.
