And even some Faith Hill thrown in. Frank on Cape Cod has a website:
www.frankcapecod.com
If you click on Frank's Music you get an alphabetical listing of the artists they play & the music definitely runs the gamut from the 60s to today. The last time I was on The Cape in July they seemed to have a classic hits sound updated to the 90s & post Y2K so I'm not sure if they've expanded things or how much airplay some of these artists get.
On the other hand I've noticed Cool 102 is playing some currents. They've always played recurrents & recent hits but now I hear new Tom Petty, Dylan, John Mayer, & Mellencamp. I doubt that it's in response to Frank since Cool's music is more focused & by the very nature of the format Frank's music wouldn't be. I still think there are 2 different audiences here: one that was raised on rock & one that was raised on Top 40.
Time will tell. I like the variety format but am more apt to take it on a song-by-song basis & am not sure how I'd handle a diary.
