From Marc B:

"I think he's way off-base here. I don't even think TV will exist in 2015. By then everyone will be watching online."

Marc, I have dial-up internet. It will take nothing short of governmental intervention on a huge scale to entice internet providers into providing universal high-speed internet service.

Online viewing (as on TV's and not PC's) is an insignificant number presently and unless and until broadband (a) has universal access - even in Jasper Junction - and (b) costs are reasonable and (c) speeds can support HD video you won't see a big change.

It may even take a culture change (or at least some evolution) to change viewing habits from what they are today to on-demand viewing. And while it is common to have multiple PC's in a house it is not common to have more than one HD big-screen. While single 20-somethings wouldn't necessarily have an issue, family member's fighting for the big-screen might.

Lastly, online programming isn't anywhere near the PQ of OTA or even cable/sat yet. And would I spend big bucks for an HD big-screen to watch Youtube video's? Not likely for the majority of viewers today or in the near future.

Eventually there will be something on the 'Net worth watching on a state-of-the-art TV but most likely not within a five-year timeframe.

There will be an all Simpsons channel in 2015, they have more than enough episodes to go 2 weeks without a repeat! Also, they'll have a new show called "Three Men"! :D

I'd like to add one.A new show called."The Six Billion Dollar Couple with K.I.T.T" Lee Majors and Lindsay Wagner will come out of retirement and star in their roles with KnightRiders KITT.David Hasselhoff will drive KITT ,Richard Anderson will play Oscar and replace Devin Miles postion.

You know "America's Funniest Home Videos" will still be on.

You forgot "Law and Order: Chicago", "CSI' Detroit" and "NCIS: San Francisco".

And where is "Green Acres"?

On-Line viewing will die about twenty seconds after they start charging for it ;D .

Educational fare on UPBC (Universal Public Broadcasting Care formally PBS only this time funding is mandatory from every living person on the planet) will include:

The Environmentally Green Renewable Energy Company
Tahini Street
King Friday the XIIIth and The Land Of Plausibility (because creativity and imagination have been outlawed by then)

All programs will be aired in our native tongue of Chinese Mandarin with Spanish audio available on SAP. English closed captioning available on a few select programs on CC3.

No. TV will still exist. It'll just be like the 1950s when TV co-existed with Old Time Radio shows (Some like Jack Benny enjoyed life on BOTH Radio & TV during the 1950s).

Only difference is TV as we know it will be in the same old shoes OTR shows were in while the new & adaptable stuff goes online in some fashion.

Just my opinion.....

Cheers :D
