Fromer Chicago Bears player Cedric Benson.

Chicago Tribune is reporting, and I have also heard on the radio that former Chicago Bears player Cedric Benson has been reportedly killed in a motorcycle crash, he last played in 2012 with the rival Green Bay Packers, he played for the Chicago Bears from 2005 to 2007, and then Cincinnati Bengals from 2008 to 2011. He has been plays since 2012 due to injuries, he was killed in Austin Texas where he was born on December 28th, 1982 in Mindlax Texas as seen on his Wikiedia page. He was the Chicago Bears' top pick in the 2005 draft https://www.chicagotribune.com/spor...0190818-ve4gwhffyrbsjcif5at2rsbyla-story.html , Wikipedia also mentions that he was drafted as the 4th pick making him the highest pick for the Bears since they drafted Dan Hampton in 1979.

And I have heard about his brother talking about it, he would have turned 37 if he had lived until December, and I am sure a lot of people including myself had forgotten he exists until today.

even his death is being covered by the DFW local stations due to being a Longhorn great.

today is truly a sad day for Texas sports as well as Texas Longhorns sports in general.

I am sure since he went to Texas for college, funny how I guess the Texas Houstns didn't want him, or that the Bears had gotten to him first

"Benson was drafted 4th overall by the Chicago Bears in 2005."

No Texas team had access to him before Chicago. That year, the draft order was San Francisco, Miami, Cleveland, and Chicago.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2005_NFL_Draft

that and the Houston Texans or Dallas Cowboys didn't want him it seems or they would had traded for him or signed him during any of his "free agency" in his NFL career. some Texas Longhorns alumni that was born and raised in Texas and played Texas high school football truly don't get to play for their hometown/homestate teams. that just the way it is in pro sports or even college sports.

Makes you wonder if they drafted him if they could have I didn't't look it up of how the draft order was other then knowing that the Bears had the 4th round pick that year. And his career with the Bears was short, h e was released by the Bears ion 2008 following his second alcohol-related arrest in five weeks. And that is listed on his Wikipedia page.

He was released by the Bears following his second alcohol-related arrest in five weeks as mentioned on his WIkiedpa page, he might have bene lucky that the Cincinnati Bengals took a chance on him, and signed him to a contract originally for one year but he played through them following the 2011.
