Frozen picture for over an hour on KNXV, Wednesday night

On Wednesday, I set my DVR to record LOST on KNXV/ABC 15 - both the "pop-up" replay from last week (7p-8p) and this week's new episode (8p-9p).

However, there was a major technical issue of some sort - the entire 7p-8p episode was nothing but a frozen screen from the "Wheel of Fortune" telecast (specifically, a shot of Vanna and the puzzle board...it looked like "Victoria's Secret" was part of the answer) -- so this issue presumably started at some point between 6:30p-7p. This continued until approximately 8:20 or so, at which point the new episode of LOST was joined in progress.

From http://www.abc15.com/news/local/story/ABC15-Programming-Alert-UPDATE/fa-aHtMIgEuDIoAwCjFARQ.cspx:

ABC15-TV experienced technical difficulties on Wednesday evening that may have prevented some viewers from seeing our signal.

Tonight's new episode of Lost will re-air on ABC15-TV at 12:06 a.m.

It will run until 1:09 a.m.

We apologize for any inconvenience and thank you for your patience.

Does anyone know what led to this problem?

No, and this won't help either: during their 10pm newscast (someone had to watch - may have well have been me) during which they were extremely embarrassed about the Wheel of Fortune freeze (the clue was "Victoria's Secret Garden") they ran LOST in its entirety at 12:06 am.

Sorry, I'm not following - did something else go wrong during the 10pm newscast? Or did they just announce during the newscast that they'd be replaying LOST at 12:06?

You mean "Lost" was actually "lost"? Other than the video how could you actually tell?

BWA HAAA HAAAAAAAA......er, ahem, <cough>

How ironic. ;D

Announced repeatedly during the newscast (looks like some of my post was -ahem- lost)

Wait.......what?????

"ABC15HD experienced a catastrophic transmitter failure"

then:

"A cooling pump malfunctioned causing the digital transmitter to shut down."

Since when is a controlled shutdown a catastrophic failure?

I don't know. We'll have the Investigators get on the case.

By the way...did you know that frozen TV screens can kill? Full story at 10.

I do the same thing: DVR both hours of Lost. I got up early Thursday and was greeting by the Frozen (Donkey) Wheel of Fortune. I panicked! Went online to ABC.com and watched it there. I realized I'm not a Guy-who-sits-in-front-of-computer-watching-TV shows. Of course I also didn't know KNXV would show Lost at midnight +.
