Fry's stocking Radiosophy HD101

I had to stop by my local Frys store tonight for a few odds and ends. As usual, I strolled down the table radio aisle to see how the HD Radio stock looked. For a product that absolutely nobody is interested in, Frys seems to move a lot of HD Radios.

Still out of stock in the Sony XDRS3HD since my last visit. Also out of stock in the Sangean HDR-1 tabletop now, there were 3 in stock last time I was there. There was one Sangean HDT-1X remaining, down from 4 last time and a there was a new addition at Frys - the Radiosophy HD101.

They're selling it for $99 and had ten in stock. Nine after I bought mine.

So, that accounts for seven HD radio sales in the DFW area where there is a heavy ratio of HD stations broadcasting?

I'm impressed.....

Ibiquity says they're on track to have a half-million HD radios sold in 2007. Impressive since a)-they're sometimes a little hard to find

b)-salespeople are clueless. But not just about HD radio, they have NO FREAKIN' IDEA about HDTV, satellite radio, etc. NOBODY requires their employees to know sh#t about what they're selling, and it makes me VERY angry!

c)-Radio has done a HIDEOUS job of telling people w-t-f HD Radio IS, and what it OFFERS! That's OUR fault (as broadcasters). If we can't sell ourselves any better than this, we deserve to fail, and have NOTHING to offer advertisers! (Obviously I think "we" are smarter than this, and will get it together. I COULD BE WRONG!)

Just ordered one thru the mail direct from Radiosophy. Nice, but could use some improvement. My biggest disappointment is that radio is not really portable. You must use it with the AC converter. IT IS NOT BATTERY POWERED in spite of its small size.

Also, there is no tone or bass/treble controls on it. Otherwise, impressive, and not bad for a start.

A stinking "half-million" sold by the end of 2007???

At the Las Vegas NAB Show in April 2007, an iBiquity employee promised me they were on track to sell ONE MILLION by the end of 2007.

How utterly embarrasing!
