Ft Wayne

To me FW radio is in a rut. The Christmas gimmick aside there's nothing stellar around the Fort. Satellite nights, automated overnights, same ol' S*#T in my opinion. About the only thing Oasis has done RIGHT is moving studio location. I could say more but the TRULY INFORMED would rip my thoughts to shreds. I just call it from the outside looking in.

I would agree that is what radio is like everywhere. There's nothing exciting on the air anymore.

Does anyone know anything about the Oasis GM job posted for Fort Wayne. How is Oasis?

I don't know if he's as hands-on as he once was. He had a reputation for being hands on.

May I offer a contrary opinion, with the following evidence?

* All generally regional ownership. Sure, Mr. Oasis lives in Miami. Sure, Summit City is owned by an investment group. But there's no Enter...Clear...Cumul...TownSq...Artis...You get my point.

* The locally programmed formats at Homestead High School's WCYT, Columbia City High School's WJHS.

* The local news coverage on WOWO.

* The strong religious programming from WBCL, WLAB, WLYV, and WFCV.

* The locally hosted shows on WBOI (Meet the Music, Little Brother Radio, Burnt Toast Show) and WBNI (Matinee).

* The local play by play sports coverage of IPFW (WKJG), Saint Francis (WLYV), the Komets (WOWO), high schools (WJHS, WFGA, et al)

* Lots of local hosts (for example: Doc West, Dirk Rowley, Jim Barron, Zack Skyler, Jim Reed, Scott Tsuleff, Dr. Dave, Charly Butcher, Melissa Montana, Billy Elvis, "Big Keys", Jerrdog, Dan Austin, Chris Cruise) that live and work in Fort Wayne.

* No straight ahead CHR station.

* An interesting Arbitron battle, about to be made more interesting after this book, when Federated drops Arbitron (My source: TRI; 8/12/2010 at http://www.radio-info.com/newsletter/html/tri-08122010.html )

* Rock 104 vs. The Bear (made more interesting since Rock 104 isn't "My 103.9" anymore) :)

* WMEE vs. Majic (the ups and downs of both stations).

* Hot vs...nevermind. :)

Comments? I've donned the 2011 version of me flame retardant suit, which contains 0% retard.

are you even in fort wayne?? if so you are clueless to what is really going on.

rock 104 vs bear?? classic rock vs active rock??? (maybe you meant rock 104 vs the fort)

hot1079 is more top 40 chr now, wild 963 is basically urban even though they both still report as rhy.

1063 now talk radio and 102 which was wgl-fm the river is now v102

fyi fed med has not dropped arbitron yet, they are actually using both for now.

btw...big kess not keys
