The talking smack of other employees in the newsroom hasn't been the only thing going on at CBS46. There's been a shakeup concerning Julie Smith, Alicia Roberts, & Rodney Harris. Julie is now doing traffic during the afternoon & early evening newscasts at 4PM, 5PM, & 6PM. Julie is also showing off what's trending during the 9PM newscast during the week on Peachtree TV. Rodney is now doing traffic full time during the morning newscasts during the week. Alicia, who had originally been doing traffic in afternoons & early evenings, is now co-anchoring the 9PM newscast Sunday edition on Peachtree TV with Mike Dunston. Of course, when Alicia is on on Sunday nights, she does still show off what's trending. Ever since Kim Passoth left CBS46 to move back to southern California, CBS46 has been finding someone to permanently take Kim's place on weekend evenings. They've been alternating back & forth between Alicia Roberts, Brittany Miller, & Hayley Mason. There was one time when political reporter Giovanna Drpic came in as a guest co-anchor. It was when Hurricane Florence was making landfall on the North Carolina coastline. On that weekend, Kennesaw State had their first ever televised football game on Peachtree TV. The game had a rain delay. After the game was over, the 9PM newscast came on at 10PM, but it was only on for 60 seconds. It was just enough time for the weather segment. If you're only going to be on for 60 seconds, don't show the regular intro to your newscast. Show the "News Update" intro that you use during CBS This Morning instead. Thankfully, Sharon Reed & Thomas Roberts came on later for CBS46's 11PM newscast. This practice of deceiving viewers into thinking the station is going to do a full newscast on weekend evenings when really they're only going to be on for 60 seconds goes back to several years ago when Katie Brace used to anchor weekend evenings. Paul Ossmann was doing the weather for weekend evenings at the time. Even after Mike Dunston took Katie's place, the practice of deceiving viewers into thinking the station is going to do a full newscast on weekend evenings when really they're only going to be on for 60 seconds still continues to go on today. 60 seconds does not constitute as a newscast. If you're going to be on past the 5-minute mark, then & only then it constitutes as a newscast. Back in present day, the way CBS46 is doing their weekend evening newscasts when they're actually doing newscasts, Brittany Miller co-anchors with Mike on Saturday nights. Alicia Roberts co-anchors with Mike on Sunday nights. Before Rodney Harris started doing traffic full time during the morning newscasts during the week, Rodney was known as the weekend "web wizard". He showed off what was trending on weekends on weekend evenings. When Mike & Brittany are on on Saturday nights, they do the "What's Trending" segment together. On a positive note where Alicia Roberts is concerned, she recently hosted a BH&G (Better Homes & Gardens) 2018 cookbook special. The special was awesome and the food looked nice. BH&G, like CBS46, is owned by Meredith Corporation. Alicia moving to weekends, IYAM (If You Ask Me), is a demotion, NOT a promotion. When Kim Passoth was at CBS46 in her early days, she was anchoring the 12PM (12 Noon) newscasts. She then moved to weekend evenings. Now she's gone. My only prayer is that Alicia doesn't become like Kim. Alicia, Julie, & Rodney should have just been left alone. When Ella Dorsey quit doing the weather for the 12PM (12 Noon) newscasts during the week, I was disappointed at first. She's on at 4PM & 9PM for now while Paul is on at 5PM, 6PM, & 11PM. Until CBS46 can find someone to permanently do the weather for the 12PM (12 Noon) newscasts, they're having to alternate between Molly McCollum, Rodney Harris, & in some cases Jennifer Valdez will step in to work overtime if necessary. Anyway, that is all.
