Fugitive in Meridian?

I heard a rumor that WOKK in Meridian started a fugitive promotion with the prize being $5,000. Can anyone confirm this? How does it sound on the air? My station just did it here (Paige, our promotions consultant, is da bomb!) and it was HUGE. I hope they're using Paige's consulting service because this isn't something that can be half assed in order to be successful.

There are several stations doing the promotion right now that are clients of his... check out http://www.wired965.com, they're doing it right now. Looking at WOKK's website, I have to be honest... they don't have a clue about what all is involved to make this promotion a success. A big part of it is website content... as of yesterday they had nothing about it on their website.

Paige does the CPR Promotions Check Ups on All Access and you can read more about the promotion there (he writes about the stations doing it sometimes). He works for New World Communications (Jerry Clifton's company who is also my station's programming consultant). I think Paige also works independently but I don't remember what his company is called at the moment. It should be in his reports on All Access.

I don't mean to bash WOKK or New south in what they're trying to do but I seriously wouldn't get my hopes up for this being a success if what I've heard about it is any indication. The no website content thing will be a HUGE problem. Plus they tend to skew older (30+) in the ratings (if the past is any indication) and most of the stations that do this are top 40s that target younger (12+ or 18+). I guess we'll just have to wait and see what happens. I wish them well, though.

Still don't know what it is...for those of us who don't keep up with USJ or OKK, please share your knowledge. Searching a website for information that isn't there seems a bit futile.

I didn't keep up with it too much on USJ, but, and someone correct me if I'm wrong, they give you clues to help you figure out who the fugitive is. If you think you know who the person is, then you ask them, "Are you the (insert radio station here) $5,000 fugitive?" and if they answer yes, then you win the loot.<P ID="signature">______________
