Full Moon tropping in Central Indiana tonight...

Getting some good tropo tonight in indiana again... This Summer has been good for Tropo, but I havent gotten any Sporatic E this year yet..... Im waiting on those 1000 mile plus catches, but I must be missing me.

I must have barely missed this. Here in Southern Michigan I was only hearing 100kw WIAA (88.7) and 50kw WOLW (91.1), about 165 miles from my location. This morning i'm hearing some weak Chicago, Milwaukee and Sturgeon Bay, but nothing impressive.

Be patient with the Es down there in Indiana. I've heard about three or four good openings this summer. The way it's been so far this season we should have another opening any day now.

On 93.7 which is open here now, I heard the Benton Harbor Michigan Country station, plus I heard KSLZ Saint Louis 107.7, and several stations from Illinois... I didnt check the TV.

The country station at 93.7 is actually from Grand Rapids, a bit farther north than Benton Harbor. Actually, probably about 50 miles to the north. They are a very strong station in my area. I don't know for sure if they're using all 320,000 of their watts, but they are still a huge station both with signal and listenership.

Since 107.7 is open in your area, you should try for WRKR (Portage, MI) some time. They are a 50kw station about 21 miles from my location. But i've heard them in Fort Wayne and even in Lorain, OH while driving to Cleveland one morning. They have a monster signal that should be an easy catch the next time you have Michigan tropo.

Actually the 93.7 is my first ever Michigan catch, even though Indiana is right under Michigan, I have never ever been able to DX even a Detroit station here, and ive never heard Canada here, but I did here Canada in South Carolina once, picking up Z1035 Torronto in Columbia SC... I hardly ever get DX to the North or East, it usually comes from South or West. Saint Louis Dxing is very common to pick up here in Indiana, Every year during the summer I can almost always predict getting KSLZ Z107.7 usually between 6 AM and Noon, and then again between 6 PM and 9pm.. Im 230 miles east of Saint Louis, and KSLZ has a 100kw at over a thousand feet with a clear frequency and nothing but flat terrain between here and Saint louis, it makes Z-107.7 a regular summertime catch, and some times I can get it around Christmas and New Years for a few days.

That's all it takes! Signals carry well beyond their intended listening areas if there is flat terrain and an open frequency. I can't claim any everyday 200+ mile tropo catches. The best I can do up here is about 160 miles from WONU and WMBI in Chicago.
