Fuller moving 99.5 translator to West Peak

Fuller's $10,000 translator licensed to Clinton was moved to 99.5 earlier this month, and this week he's filed to move the 99.5 translator to West Peak in Meriden with 50 watts. With that HAAT, it should carry nicely. Right now the translator's rebroadcasting the main programming on WMRQ-HD1.

I'd bet that it becomes part of the "Bomba" translator network, nestled between 97.1 in Bolton and 104.5 in Bridgeport. It could also run in tandem with Fuller's 99.5 translator in New London, but there'd have to be some shuffling of HD subchannels. Fuller also has his 93.something translator in Montauk which will probably become a stand-alone station simulcasting an HD subchannel.

That would make sense, getting Bomba into Meriden and New Britain with their large Puerto Rican communities.

Reelyreal...you are 100 percent correct, 99.5 Meridan will roll out the Bomba 97.1 Hartford programing. I'm crossing my fingers that coverage will be good from West Peak.

Tomorrow, 99.5 New London will be rolling out a morning show with an interview with country star Jo Dee Messina as well tracked personalities...more to come.

Now that Mr. Fuller has divulged his plans for 99.5 FM, I have two questions: 1) Why the new translator from West Peak? Isn't the signal from 97.1 strong enough to cover the greater Hartford market and 2) Would adding this new translator cause Gois or the owners of WRYM to consider flipping 840, 910 or 1230 to another format in English?

I'm sure those in Meriden could not receive the 97.1 translator. I'm in the south end of New Britain and I barely get it myself.

Actually in my car I could recieve the 97.1 signal fairly well as far south as Wallingford. Not inside my house though. I live in the north end of meriden. I'm pretty sure they are trying to cover waterbury and get better coverage in meriden.

It's always hit-or-miss for me in Meriden. I get it fine on 91 and the Wilbur Cross, but once I head down East Main St. in the direction of Hubbard Park/West Peak, I start to lose it. I think it's a brilliant idea to add this translator to the network, and at a huge value.

Waterbury's a pretty long way off to be covered by a Meriden translator, isn't it? I'd think New Britain would be a more logical target.

I think it will benefit both New Britain and Waterbury. As long as the coverage at 50 watts is as good as projected.
