Fulton Tornado Warning Coverage

Although Baron has a contract to upgrade NWS radars (actually L3 is doing the work, Baron is just doing the design) to Dual-Pol, there are no plans to upgrade the NWS communications network to handle the vast increase in data Dual-Pol will bring. So, even when the NWS offices are able to upgrade (3-5 years), no one outside that office will be able to see the data, unless the NWS comes up with a bunch of money to upgrade their communciations network.

I believe WSB's radar is a Radtec, not Baron...although they use Baron software like Fastrac and Vipir. A Radtec radar isn't able to be upgraded to Dual-Pol with the Baron projects currently underway at : KELO in Sioux Falls, SD, Bay News 9 in Tampa, WRAL in Raleigh, WFLD in Chicago, WNYW in NYC, and KRIV in Houston.

And make no mistake... the increase in bandwidth that would be neccessary to handle the increased Dual-Pol data will be UNGODLY.
