Just play the damn song! Listeners want familiarity!
And Thats why I LOVE FUN 107 ! AMERICA BEST CHR/POP STATION !!!fmradio1 said:Fun 107 has always had a dance/techno edge to it. They were big into freestyle music through much of the '90's. In the 2000's they've played plenty of dance. They were one of the first stations to jump on the Cascada bandwagon. They've had a dance heavy mix show on Saturday nights for years. A more hip-hop mix show airs on Friday nights.
Fun is very consistent musically. They don't play rock crossover records, unless they hit the top ten. Same with country. They'll play plenty of hip-hop but they don't go too far out there. They play a lot more of it at night than during the day. They're early on R&B records and straight ahead pop. They'll take a chance on a mass appeal dance record. They're not afraid to go deep on gold, and the songs they play are the ones they championed when they were currents. They've always done their music this way. In comparison to most stations over the years, Fun 107 has figured out their sound and they don't deviate from it.
I Miss 96.3 The Rose .radiojay1 said:I'll admit as much as I love dance, most remixes I don't like except a few like Justin Timberlake's Cry Me A River and Rock Your Body on Star 93.7 which I thought sounded better with faster rhythm. Fun 107 is almost like a newer sounding Star, and I really like it. Very little crossover rock, which seems to invade the playlists of some Hot AC stations here. Steve N would check out Fun 107 I am sure, if he can get it. In Rhode Island, Fun 107 is great to hear being mainly rhythmic but not heavy on hip-hop. It covers much of RI well, except near the WWLI FM (105.1) and WPRO FM (92.3) towers in Providence and in far northern and western RI. On the Cape, Fun 107 fades out east of Barnstable. Cape Cod has 2 Hot AC stations which are heavy on crossover rock, plus 3 other stations that are mostly rock hits, not including the actual rock station, Pixy 103 (102.9). Better yet, I suggest listening to Sirius/XM satellite radio if you are on the Cape east of Barnstable and like hip-hop, R&B, or dance, or anywhere if you like classic dance, classic soul, or smooth jazz.

WEEI is now on 96.3, correct?? @JRadiojay1? I listen to them a lot on 850AM, they have a wide variety of music, but only for a quick second )20 seconds to a minute, sometimes almost two minutes) after a commercial break, no special time to listen, I usually listen late at night, normally to their post game shows, see for yourself, maybe you will like it? They're also on 103.7 in RI. How is their signal there? I pick that up (103.7 WEEI) driving around Revere, Ma arearadiojay1 said:Agreed, 96.3 The Rose was great, it was my favorite music station on the Cape. I could also get it in Rhode Island often in tropo especially when they had the tower on Nantucket. They had a great mix of hip-hop, R&B, dance, some 80's and 90's songs, and very little rock. I would love to see Fun 107 expand and get 93.5 in Brewster. It's needless to simulcast Frank FM on this frequency when the 101.1 in Mashpee covers the Cape well. This signal would cover the east end of the Cape where Fun 107 can't be heard. Or create a new Top 40 like The Rose on 93.5 FM.
