FUN aurora opening! 2/27/14 (2 new so far)

I have two new ones so far from this big Aurora opening we are having here in the Northwestern U.S.!
First
1230 – KPRL Paso Robles, CA weak “KPRL” jingle, Fox News, match to wine company’s phone number (238-1632, with 805 code matches) and mention of the “North County”. NEW #585, 1KW, 753 miles! I have not caught a new GY at this distance for a looooong time. Wouldn’t be surprised if I start hearing KYPA soon.

Second – and a milestone
1260 – XEMW San Luis Rio Colorado, SON; Mexican music over KSFB, ID “Sonido Zeta” and // webstream. NEW #586, (have to confirm) 250W!!, 1021 miles! NEW PROVINCE ON AM FOR MEXICO!

Also hearing…
1600 KUBA Yuba City CA
1120 KZSJ San Jose CA 150W
1140 KHTK Sacramento CA all alone
1160 UNID Mexican around 1830–maybe XEQIN?
1240 KNRY Monterey CA Jazz mx
1260 KSFB San Francisco CA
1270 KJUG Tulare CA
1300 KCMY Carson City NV
950 XEKAM Rosarito BCN
960 KNEW Oakland CA
1400 KIHH Eureka CA
and the usual Californians, plus other UNIDs. Great opening tonight!

1450 – KLZS Eugene, OR; ad for “Studio 44″ concert venue in Eugene at 1942 PT 2/27. NEW #587, 1KW, 211 miles. FINALLY logged this needed Oregon! This makes it OR #86 out of 94 in the state.

1400 - KQMS Redding, CA; ID in jumble at 2100, "99.3 and 1400 AM, KQMS..." NEW #588, 1KW, 424 miles, and now Californian #100 logged!! 8 more and I will have more Californian stations than Washingtons.

1400 - KVTO Berkeley, CA; a few *seconds* after KQMS, with ID "This is KVTO, San Francisco" at 2100 2/27. NEW #589, 1KW, 608 miles! A great aurora opening tonight.

P.S. KPRL was logged at 1900, and XEMW was logged at 1920.

Those are some impressive catches to say the least! Aside from XEMW and the other low power/long distance aurora catches, I'm impressed with XEKAM. Obviously, I'm assuming that in the eastern part of your state, KJR is now a non-issue for you. (I heard them with a good signal in Banff a year and a half ago, but that was just after Seattle sunrise). As for XEKAM, on my last few visits to So-Cal they (or whatever is on 950) seem stronger than "back in the day", so I'm a little curious as to what actual power they're running.

I wonder if XEKAM is now 10, or 20KW. They sound way stronger than KJR some nights.
