LA Times:

Jean Carson, 82; Acted on Broadway, in Movies and Television Shows

Jean Carson, 82, an actress who appeared in several Broadway productions in the late 1940s and 1950s, and later in many television shows and movies, died Nov. 2 in a convalescent home in Palm Desert. She moved there after having a stroke, her family reported.

Carson played "fun girl" Daphne on "The Andy Griffith Show" in three episodes in which she flirted with Sheriff Andy Taylor. She also appeared on "The Red Buttons Show," "Ellery Queen," "The G.E. Theater," "Wagon Train," "The Untouchables" and "The Twilight Zone."

Born in Charleston, W.Va., Carson began her acting career on Broadway in 1948, appearing in George S. Kaufman's "Bravo!," which ran for 44 performances. She also appeared in "Bird Cage" and "Metropole," but neither was a hit.

Her film credits include "I Married a Monster from Outer Space" and "Fun with Dick and Jane."
