Fun with AM Directionals

Then there is the radial where we had a nice point in front of a house by the lake.

Came back a couple years later, couldn't find the point. Drove around a bit.

Someone moved the house!

It works great! If you look closely at the first picture you can sort of make out the old mark. I put that there a year ago, and I could still see it!<P ID="signature">______________

Now THAT is funny! I had a road moved on me once, but never a house!

Last year, we did a non-D proof on the array. We had points set in the worst areas. One was next to an active landfill, another was on a small stagnant lake. This was late July...the stench and skeeters were awful!!

On the other hand...the weather was beautiful today, sunny and 75 with a little wind. The perfect day to blow out of the office for a few hours to run the points. There are some perks to the job!<P ID="signature">______________

Wish I remembered who did this. The radial bisected a long windy road with lots of big mature trees. He marked the trees where he took readings. Came back a month or so later and every tree he'd marked was cut down.

Oops.
 
Another good reason to get a GPS unit and "bookmark" your monitor points.
You never know what you'll find... or not find...

Especially if you live in a town like Columbus, where new streets seem to spring up overnight, and that 2-lane highway your remember now has four lanes.

I had a monitor point on a radial in Northern NJ that had the description listed as "next to abandoned car". That didn't last too long :). Guess it wasn't listed with the historical commission, maybe just the hysterical commission.
 
I thought in NJ a car left on the street for more than 24 hours was an "abandoned car."

After 48 hours it became spare parts...
