Funding for New NCE Stations

Okay, the economy sucks, and I can already hear the jokes, but hear me out-where would go to secure grants for building new NCE FMs these days? I've got two CPs for low power (class A) facilities, both of which will be the first NCE in their city of license. Not religious nor NPR, but community based, at least that's the plan. Any suggestions?

Thanks

(And no,neither is located in Texas!)

You can try PTFP for funding. However, it is a matching grant, and VERY competitive. This year's deadline has passed, so you have to wait until next year. CPB can provide operational funding for existing stations, so you have to get yours on the air first. It also is VERY competitive and they have a strict application process. I would suggest you contact NFCB (nfcb.org) for some ideas and help.

Of course when "you" filed for the CPs in the first place, you basically told the FCC in your application that you had funding to complete the project.

Right?

;)

Of course you can have funding in the bank. But who wants to spend what they have in the bank when the FCC gives them 3 years to build and drum up alternative sources of funding so that you can keep that cash in the bank. Right? Any person with a good business sense would consider this.

Oh I understand Miracle, hence the ;)

As for PTFP, good luck. CPB appropriations are down and that means PTFP will have even less to offer qualified grantees.

Folks at the network have told us not to count on PTFP this next cycle, and that's what we were looking to augment our stash o' cash for a CP we have.
