Funniest radio people (men & women)

This can be ANY on air type...Jox, Teams or Individuals...traffic reporters, News types, Producers, Stunt Boys, Interns, Anchors, Reporters...anyone on the air. But let's also separate it by gender--funniest men and funniest women.

10. Eddie "The Boner" Sanchez (KLOL) he had good timing, but a little lame.
09. Hudson & Harrigan (KILT) good, clean, family humor.
08. Tuttle & Kline (KKBQ) so far, so good. Not hilarious, but ok.
07. Jones & Company (KMJQ) with Val Wilson, Dezz, JP Spees, & Chili Bill Smith, and Funky Larry Jones... a very funny show. Too bad it's gone.
06. Elaine Closure (KLOL) Phone Sex Traffic
05. Redneck Roy, Dean & Rog show (KKRW)... not the best, but funny.
04. Atom Smasher (KRBE) He's ok. He has his moments.
03. Lanny Griffith (KLOL) Traffic in bondage!
02. Sam Malone & Maria Todd (KRBE) LOL funny! Too bad she didn't go with him.
01. Kevin Dorsey (KLOL/KKRW) God rest his soul, he was hilarious!

My vote goes to

Cecil Knight and Col. St. James When they did afternoons on KLDE.. Cecil's one liners, even the old ones were hilarious.

H&H on KILT.

and

John Lander and the QZoo with all its cast of characters, in particular Mr. Leonard and Cleat Dumpster.

Unfortunately, there are no more funny shows left in this market thanks to the corporate bean counters with the occasional exception of Dean & Rog. If I owned a radio station, here is who I would try to get and have instant ratings:

1. Stevens & Pruett when they were H&H (With the Boner along)
2. Kenny Miles from the 70's Miles in the Morning Program
3. Lanny Griffith doing "Traffic in Bondage"
4. John Lander and the Q-Zoo morning crew in its 80's heyday.
5. Martha Martinez as the news babe.
6. Moby (Rockin Moby, not country Moby)
7. Dean & Rog for fill in, in the absence of any of the above.

Stevens & Pruett and The Boner made me laugh in high school and college.

Lanny Griffith made me laugh harder than just about anyone once I started working at The Buzz. Moreso off the air than on the air.

There was a guy that was on The Buzz morning show for a time when Will Pendarvis was the host, Derek Nelson (son of KTRK's Don Nelson actually). He will always run neck and neck with Lanny as the funniest person I know. He didn't always say a lot, and really hadn't done radio before. He was the promo kid that cracked everyone up and ended up on the air. Probably his best-known on-air bit was calling in semi-regularly as Will Pendarvis's "INlaw Dave" who was always causing trouble back at Will's house and sounded strangely similar to Outlaw Dave. Last I heard Derek moved to L.A. to become an actor. Not sure what he's doing.

Mr. Randy on the various Buzz morning shows he was on was pretty funny. The real-life version of Mr. Kenneth.

Before Rod Ryan and now Howard Stern came on the air in Houston, I was a faithful 10 percenter and listened religiously to Walton & Johnson, and they could definitely make me laugh at times.

The Rod Ryan Show does make me laugh when I'm able to listen. More often when his foil is Travis Golightly. So both of them make me laugh, and Teresa sometimes, but since Howard Stern came on, I haven't been able to listen as much.

Its noteworthy that with the exception of W&J, no syndicated shows such as "Bob and Tom" or others have been mentioned here.

I would include the following, in no particular order.

John Lander and the Q morning zoo
Stevens & Pruitt
Dean & Rog
Carson & Christy
Don Imus
Howard Stern
Elaine Closure
Sam Malone & Maria Todd

Speaking of which...

I'm not up on this and somebody will probably tell me I should have known, but what became of Mr. Randy? He was hysterical. He would come on nearly every week having been "arrested," usually for pissing in a public place.
To this day, as hilarious and entertaining as Rod's show is, the funnniest show I can remember was Steve, Ken and Lanni. That show could sometimes be gutbustingly funny.
Sam and Maria were definitely quite a pair, but I dare say that Atom and Maria actually have some chemistry. It's not the same, but it's far better than Kid Kraddick or a syndicated show being thrown on KRBE.

RIP Mr. Randy

Slater...Mr. Randy passed away about 2 years ago, from cancer(?). IIRC.
Steve and Jeff did a "retrospect" all morning that was hillarious. all the bits... car honks, guess my meat, getting kicked out of the studio. great "thaeter of the mind".<P ID="signature">______________

Wow! Like I said, somebody would answer and I would get that "should have known" feeling.

I definitely wasn't here in Houston when that happened or I would have been listening.

I've been missing him on the radio. No morning show in Houston currently has a walk in regular like Mr. Randy was--that everytime he barges in, you know you're about to hear something hysterically funny.

Man, it would be cool if I could find some audio of some of his bits, but for now memory serves adequately.

Derek is still in LA...getting bit parts on Soap Operas.
