"Funny 97.3" now simulcasting on 1260

Their ID includes KIKO-FM, KBSZ and the 96.1 Fort Mcdowell translator, but they're still IDing themselves as "Funny 97.3." Is there a format change in the works for 1260/96.1?

That would be a possibility, but it would have made sense for them to start on the day itself, not the end of March. The 1260 website is still up, and the hastily-created legal ID is missing cities of license.

We'll wait and see what happens in the next few days.

I tried listening to 97.3 in the West Valley. Couldn't pick it up in my house, Peoria & 101 freeway. Got a lot of bleedover from 97.5.. Driving west onto Luke AFB, I could hear it at work with some static.

1260 is audible on the northwest side during the day. Haven't tried it on I-10 since the "Rock 'N Roll" days before the 4,500 watt transmitter, so I wonder if KOY's HD hash as well as KXEG is still an issue...

So why isn't 13~Forty Funny? (yes, there is a Miami, AZ) hmmm..smells like 1TV is cutting costs while looking for a buyer for 97~Three, 96~One, 12~Sixty and 13~Forty. Good luck...and that's no joke!

I know they don't subscribe to Arbitron, but maybe Rocket Radio's crack research team found there were more listeners for the guffaws than "Golf 'N' Guns."

It's April 11th and still no correct top of the hour legal ID for KIKO FM CLAYPOOL and KBSZ APACHE JUCTION or Translator ID (required several times a day). The FCC doesn't joke around with lack of legal ID's. So it sounds like the 1TV group is Not only cheap, but illegal.

Translators can and very often are IDed by silent key...but yeah, the full power FM and the AM have to have an ID...and the FCC recently hit a big CC owned station for not IDing in Los Angeles.

They're have a correct legal ID in rotation with the one that omits the cities of license, but it seems like the illegal ID gets aired more often.

I'm also noticing more ads aimed for the Globe-Miami area. Did they lose the lease on the Scottsdale studios/offices and move back in with KIKO-AM?

What's going to happen to ASU's low power "13~Thirty, The Blaze" if and when KIKO moves from the wastelands of Globe (err, Miami) to the wastelands of Apache Junction? 13~Forty's signal will reach Tempe with no problema, and the Blaze will probably have to move again. They moved from 12~Sixty to 13~Thirty when 1TV.com changed Wickenburg's 12~Fifty, to Apache Junction's 12~Sixty. The Blaze-ing Saddles frequency move should qualify for a deep discount from Starving Students Movers.

They're off the air half the time anyway, and when they're on the signal is horrible (constant 60-cycle hum). With school ending in about 3 weeks, I won't be surprised if they shut the AM down for good and go online-only.

You're right...that's the most humane thing to do for 13~Thirty. Nurse Jeff and I suspect those in Tucson would say the same about their 13~Thirty! Jinxed frequency.

In fact, they're off the air today, at least as of 12:00 when I checked. I work near the 143 & University, so if they're on, I can hear them regardless of how much power they're running (and it does vary).

I'm new to the website and didn't realize until today that AM-1260 is all-comedy. By dumb luck, I have a button on my car radio programmed for that position for when I drive to Los Angeles. KMZT-AM over there plays classical music and it's sort of a "last resort" station when all else is playing commercials or songs I don't want to hear any more. It's nice to know I have something else to listen to in the car.

What is going on with the Rocket/1TV signals? 97.3 appears to be airing comedy programming from summer 2012 and 1260 is just a loop of commercials. They must have let go of their ops manager.

I was listening to 1260 in my car this afternoon and there was plenty of comedy, not much commercials. Indeed, as I was getting home, the station played a piece of an old Shelley Berman routine about flying.
