It seems that Mike Reeves and JoJo Walker are doing some really funny bits on other stations in the market. Most notably about WQKY, which they call WKKK. I'm sure that Mike Cullata would have a fit if he heard them! Even some on 970 WFLA. Looks like the war is on and my the best bit win!

WKKK is totally tasteless and should be yanked immediately. You dont ever, ever even joking call another radio station racist. NOT EVER!!!! These guys should be fired.

Maybe you should listen before you pass judgement. Unless of course you consider someone speaking with a redneck tone to racist. If that's the case perhaps you should move out west or north of the Mason-Dixon Line. There is nothing, and I mean NOTHING racist in the bits that I heard. They were just poking fun at the country music playing rednecks that work there.

By the way...after doing a little research I found this: WKKK-FM (96.3 Kiss), is a rhythmic-leaning top 40 FM radio station based in Indiana, Pennsylvania. Owned by Forever Broadcasting, the station broadcasts at 96.3 MHz, with an ERP of 44 kW. This station is an alternate radio station with Clear Channel owned WKST-FM in Pittsburgh. Just thought you might want to fire Clear Channel too while your at it!

FWIW, WQYK used the first bars of "Dixie" under its top of the hour ID for years, which is sort of an audio version of waving a Confederate flag.

da BIG SHOW

I can't believe the BIG SHOW is still on ....... Pretty hard to listen to.

Back in the Sixties during the Hippie v. Silent Majority culture wars, KIKK in Houston had a bumper sticker with three big K's and a little I. It was bright red and the letters ended in cowboy boot heels. At a distance on pick-up bumpers, it did look questionable. On top of that , PM drive had a "hippie watch" telling listeners where they could find hippies to galk at . This station protested the arrest of Lt.Calley the same day he was arrested. The general facts were not really public yet. In spite of that, I liked the music and I also listened to real Dixie stations like WVOK and WBAM.

Redneck is definitely an ethic slur in my mind . I know it has been co-opted by Country comedians as their own. To make it more confusing to music fans, people like Willie, Waylon, Johnny Cash, and Bosephus borrowed from Hippie and Redneck music and created a hybrid that I think is really cool.

I'm sure this didn't help anything.

The Jack Harris bits are lame. All good comedy has an element of truth, and the truth is, Jack Harris is too busy doing his own show to call into someone else's. Plus, the accent and the phrases are way, way over the top.

Was the "dot" on the I a spur? ;D

JoJo - with all due respect, have the balls to post with your own name. Stand up and prove you have more class than most of the "know it alls" that remain nameless behind screen names on this board.

You've worked at successful stations and have a job. Don't lower yourself to their level.

They aren't your audience anyway (You'll notice they can't even tell Scott Walker is VT'ed in the other thread - what do they know anyway?).

Gee, and I thought "The Big Chill Bar and Grill" was live

Jack in the Box drive-thru's are VT'ed.

Jeff in Sa-ra-so-ta!

I like the AM Tampa Bay bits. The other ones are lame. As much as I like to make fun of Jack Harris, I remember Pulse Plus and Three Little Pigs when I was a kid. Even that bit is getting old.

Its like Big Show is taking a page from The Power Pig play book. I remember when Power Pig went on the Air and destroyed Q105. "Screw the Q". I believe Mike Reeves and JoJo were apart of the QZoo w/ Mason Dixon.
Mason Dixon was the king of Radio at the time and it was all gone in a flash.

Perhaps your right Randy, I do have the balls and I have worked at some of America's Greatest radio stations and have played a major part of their success. So going forward, no more hiding behind a fake posters name like so many others. Love me or hate me, I am what I am. A 35 year radio vet with the battle scars to prove it. Won some, lost some, but it's always been fun and it's the only thing that I know how to do to support my family. I could have moved on to a different market, but my wife's family is here and I couldn't take her away from that. That's the long and short of it, take or leave it.

I must say. I am enjoying the BIG SHOW. Some of the best radio people in are market are doing it with no budget, zero promotion and for little or no pay.

It is local, live and getting better all the time. I hope they can hang in and make it a success.

Jo Jo: Congratulations! Real pros need not hide behind "sceen names". Good to see you out in the open and wish you well!

There is no station at 96.3 in Indiana, PA. Never trust Wikipedia! Didn't think someone would actually pick those call letters, but then again KM Communications (Which is owned by folks of Korean decent, who I am guessing English is not their first language) picked the calls K-U-N-T for a station in Hawaii last year.
