I was hired as manager of an FM in a four station market. Big Bob was the owner of the AM and FM. The AM PD made it known he was industrial strength upset over my appointment and maybe we'll get into this another time! Big Bob was definitely a strange one! I also did afternoon drive on the FM and Big Bob left everyday at 5 PM sharp. I began to notice when I went to the mensroom someone used up all the toilet paper and didn't bother to replace the roll. When I went into the ladies room, someone used that roll too and didn't replace it. "What slobs" I thought. At least they could put a roll out. I began to notice this day after day so I asked Big Bob about this. His response was, nobody was doing this! "When you get to be the owner, you'll learn its not the bib things they steal, its the little things!" Everyday on his way out, he would take home the toilet paper!
Big Bob was strange in other ways too! He never, and I mean never took off his suit jacket. Never! No matter how hot it was, it was always on. His reasoning was it was much too undignified for him to be seen without it!
And then his office...his desk was on a platform about six inches above the floor.
The only place to sit was a couch, yellow as I remember which was one of those types where you sink into it!
I guess Big Bob had good reason to be "strange". Him and his wife had 16 kids! I mean 16 kids they had as husband and wife!
