Funny stories...Major Market Marty

This was in small market where I was CE of the AM/FM and PD of the AM. Major Market Marty was the FM PD. Yes he was major market alright! This was his second station...his second small market station. He knew it all, including engineering. One day the "ON AIR" light shorted out and started smoking. A few minutes later, the normally boring day was punctuated by the sirens and firemen coming into the station which he called! In those days the satelite dishes were for analog systems and as such were large. The previous CE improperly mounted this dish on the roof. Again the serenity of the day was broken by the "boom, boom boom" of the dish falling from our building onto the smasller adjacient building! When questioned about this MM Marty told other jocks it was just "sunspots" and the network would be back up in a few minutes.
