Future TV Anchors

The Voice of Reason said:
Can you imagine what would happen if say a company like Nexstar purchased Channel 13? I will tell you would happen. The bottom-liners would be all over the place looking to save money and that would mean reducing both the on-air and off-air staff. In other words some of these people currently being trained for future anchor positions would be gone, as would some of the veteran reporters who make good money. Alhart has a contact until 2010 so that would have to be honored, unless of course the new company buys him out. I just shutter to think of that scenario.
Hopefully, for 13's sake, Clear Channel will sell the station to a serious broadcasting company and not some nickle and dime operation. You are also correct about the way CC treats its TV operation versus its radio station. The so-called "News Leaders" news staff has been reduced to the minimum after two people were let go last year about part of a cost-cutting measure. I don't remember any similar measures taken over at 13.

First let me say that its almost impossible for Nexstar to purchase Channel 13 while still operating 8 and 31. Despite deregulation, the FCC would consider that a monopoly in the Rochester market having one company own two TV stations (not counting CW-WHAM and Channel 31).

Second anyone who does buy WHAM (I still refer to it as WOKR) TV can't be that stupid to mess with a product that is a ratings winner. Then again I've been known to be wrong.

Finally I would love to see some local rich folks and a few business leaders purchase the station so that at least we can have one television station in Rochester that is locally-owned. But then again the odd are that I would win the lottery before that happens.
