>>Then came WBZ, which Mr. Glick joined in 1968. In a run that lasted until 1987, he developed a national following until a salary disagreement led him to switch to WHDH, after staying off the air for a year to honor a non-compete clause in his WBZ contract. He remained on WHDH until 1992, when he left Boston's airwaves for good.
I think I remember hearing Glick on WHDH in the early 90s, around midnight, when he had trivia
guy and frequent (now) WBZ fill in host Morgan White Jr on. I had recorded that but don't know what
became of the tape; anyway, I had thought his HDH hours (of the night show) started at midnight but who knows.
So acc to this Globe piece:
At WBZ 1968-87
Off yr for a year
WHDH prob late 88 or early 89 up till 92
I thought WHDH had tried him in days then moved him to overnights. But maybe it was WBZ that put
him on days (I think Donna may have mentioned that)
A Boston Radio Watch piece that I had reproduced for Free Republic says his WHDH hours were
indeed 10p-2a
>>In 1987, Glick parted ways with WBZ when he accepted a very lucrative 5-year offer from a rival WHDH AM 850(now WEEI) to host 10pm to 2am show. However, due to a non-compete clause in his WBZ contract, Glick had to sit out a full year. While waiting on the sidlines between radio jobs, and being paid by WHDH, Glick launched a popular cable access "The Larry Glick Show" carried by most local cable systems.
