My name is Dave with the New Lite FM as well as Lonestar 92.5 in the Brazos Valley (Bryan College Station area) email me at [email protected] if there are any updates or news that you need to extend to Texas as far as information- I will give and get a phone mumber as well as fax information.

As of 10:30 am Sunday, Brenham, Navasota, College Station hotels are almost filled completely. Mostly done online. I recommend that the smaller chains that do not take online reservations to get in touch with, they seem to have the openings as of now. The reservations started yesterday about 3:45 pm, and have yet to stop.

I-10 West is under construction in Houston, and it looks like it will get a little crazy even in the Brazos Valley area.

I used to live in Slidell, and the New Orleans area as well as Lafayette. You are in my thoughts and prayers. I remember that this was the worst case scenario for any hurricane in New Orleans.

Dave:

Somewhat off-topic, but the hotels near College Station may have been full even without the storm. Isn't this the weekend where some colleges and universities in the area are welcoming back students and holding orientation for freshmen?? Or is it next weekend (September 3rd-5th)??

Many parents of students may have been staying in area hotel rooms while helping their children get settled in their dorms if indeed this was the weekend where students were expected back on campus.

Yes, this is the weekend that they were checking in. However, the Sunday night rooms were taken yesterday as soon as people left to go back home. Most families had their 11am checkout. brenham, Navasota, Hempstead, all full, now. Also, I went to fill my car with gas at the Brenham Chevron, there were 7 cars parked in front- different familes and different races, all on cell phones trying to find some place to stay.

The bars will be rocking and rolling through the state of Texas as the Cajuns invade and raise a hurricane toast to the friends and family that they have left behind.
