FYI.......UPCOMMING Station Trial...

With the completion of the BRAND NEW Kent County court house with special care given to the media and Satelite Trucks also the delay in The Station trial to get it all down Is any radio station like WPRO, WHJJ or even WHJY or Television stations planning to carry gavel to gavel coverage of the trial or hang out in Trailors in the parking lot to go wall to wall like Buddy.

Just wondering if anyone has heard of anything?

I'll bet WPRO and WHJJ will be covering it 24/7 but I'm sure Giammarco will out do the "other" station because of his smarts and the strength of their newsroom

The only reason that TV stations got to "hang out in trailers in the parking lot" is because cameras are not allowed in Federal court houses. I don't remember ever seeing any "trailers in the parking lot" during Buddy's trial...considering there is no parking lot for the Federal Court in Providence. During Federal Court proceedings, the crews really have nothing to do while the proceedings are going on. They only thing they can shoot are interviews outside the court house and artist's renderings of the proceedings. The Rhode Island and Massachusetts State courts are different. One camera (called a "pool camera") is allowed in the courtroom to shoot video of the preceedings. However, it's really up to the judge. Most of the time, they don't have a problem with a camera. I only know of one situation where a judge banned a camera from the courtroom during a murder trial in Rhode Island. Channel 6 was the "pool camera" for the trial, and they showed video of a witness of the murder in question. You don't air video of witnesses who are not testifying. The judge got wind of the questionable video airing, and banned cameras from the courtroom for the rest of the trial. This incident happened a couple of years ago.

For example, in the State courts...Channel 12 could be the "pool camera" for the week...and would provide the video to Channels 10 and 6...if they wanted it. Channel 10 could be the "pool" for the next week...and so on. This is one way where all three stations work together to get what they need.

In Bristol County, MA: it's the same situation...however, a Boston station could be the "pool" for a particular court proceeding (in Attleboro or Taunton for example). The Providence stations generally would shoot court stuff in Fall River and New Bedford.

What's interesting? I fail to understand what you are referring to.

Perhaps this upcoming Michael Derderian trial is different. I'm assuming they are allowing more than one camera in the courtroom in this case. Again, it's up to the judge. That's what happened during Dan Biechele's sentencing...they allowed more than one camera in the courtroom. In most cases, they only allow one camera. I'm assuming the proceedings are a Court TV production...and any stations will simply roll tape on their camera feeds.

If there is one person that I have no respect for in the boston tv field, it would be Jeff Dederian. When I was working at a college back in 2001, we had a student that contracted meningitis. As soon as we found out, Health Services along with Student Affairs came up with a plan on how to handle this serious situation. An emergency meeting was held in my residence hall, answering student questions, what our response would be, etc...a letter was sent out to all students saying that meningitis shots would be available all that week. A FAQ about meningitis was sent out...all our bases were covered..Jeffy boy showed up in the channel 7 van...took a few shots of the campus...said that students were at risk and the college was doing nothing about it...he took the letter we sent out to students, crumpled it up and tossed it in the trash for full effect while he said something like "students are left to figure out what to do on their own"....he had no facts, did not interview any of the staff, and put together a story that was totally bogus...although the station nightclub was a tragedy---Jeff Dederian will hopefully realize that his career is over--and that his sketchy reporting skills and sensationalism was a big mistake...he has what's coming to him and should be held accountable for his actions...he was a reporter that did not care about the facts--but cared about ratings and would do anything to get them...now look where he is...i believe that everything happens for a reason..and this is payback for his cold, factless, lack of professionalism. I have no compassion for this guy after witnessing his tasteless, slimeball tactics first-hand.

WKRP, If Jeff is being accused of this why did nt someone DEMAND equal time to discuss thier side of the story. Legally I believe a TV station has to oblige to such a request.

Remenber the episode of "ALL in the FAMILY" when Archie demands equal time on gun control and makes a complete idiot of himself.
