G Float Controversy

CHR “G-105” WDCG featured a station fan dressed like a Christmas angel hanging from their float. The problem was the man is black and to some parade-goers it too closely resembled a lynching. Not exactly what the station was going for.

Radio was better than great 40 years ago and "The Ape" was part of it! WLS, WNOE, KLIF, WCFL, WIXY1260, CKLW and that is just a minor scratch of the surface. There were no computers and many had no cart machine but they could blew the doors off these so called CHR stations today. Nuffsaid!

I really do hate to jump in on one of these shifted subject topics that are so common here, but the board's running a little dry lately, so no one's likely to notice. I do clearly recall an early 70s Bill Drake drop on WAPE that said:

"Jayyyyy Thomas (explosion SFX), keeps on truckin'!"... so while Jay was never Truckin' Thomas, it was close.
