G.O. has Died

Now Steve has to go back to the Wikipedia site and correct his correction after giving you two credit. I wonder how that will be handled? I will say he looked 50 in 1984, not 48 for what its worth but I always thought 40 was ancient as well when I was 26. With that said you sure looked younger than I thought on your Car TV show and I had no idea how old you were so there. Mike Harvey had a Car or Truck TV show running at the same time and looked like an old Kenny Rogers, all in your jeans and eating good, avoiding Bashas' at all cost I hope?

What is the visual difference between 50 and 48?

Thanks for your kind words. I'm now a good 600 miles from the nearest Bashas. Don't miss it a bit.

There was a lot of confusion over Gary Owens' birth year because he had apparently told some people that he was born in 1936 instead of 1934. Quite a few singers and actors have lied about their age, including Lorde, Charo, Eminem, Nelly, Nicki Minaj, Eartha Kitt, Jennifer Lopez, Rebel Wilson and Sandra Bullock. I'm reading the 2011 updated edition of Coyne Steve Sanders' & Tom Gilbert's Desilu, which details the history of Desi Arnaz, Lucille Ball and the Desilu Studios. Desi and Lucy married in 1940. Desi was 23 and Lucy was 29. To avoid gossip and bad publicity, when they filled out the wedding license, Desi claimed to be 26 and Lucy claimed to be 25. Ai-yi-yi, 'splain that if you can!

You just did. To avoid gossip and bad publicity.

Yeah, Steve. Stop answering your own questions or we won't have anything left to answer.

I've been watching Antenna TV a lot this weekend and apparently they're not rushing to replace G.O. as the network voice. He's still on during the between-program bumpers.

...well, Ernie Anderson still had the imaging gig at WMAQ Radio in Chicago when CBS blew them up, years after Ernie died, and Jack Horkheiser: Star Hustler/Gazer still used Big Wilson's voice long after Big was six feet under. Nothing new in that...

That Antenna TV G.O update did nothing for me. After all Ernie Anderson is still heard on COPS, and Lee Marshall is still heard in death as Tony the Tiger. I will say Lee was a crappy Tony the Tiger and hope they kill him off soon. The "Voice of God"? I don't think so as Charlie Van Dyke is 1000% better than Lee Marshall could have ever been on his best day.

LARadio.com today (April 20) is devoted to, sadly, the death of Scott Mson, but also to the Gary Owens memorial service held at the Writers Guild offices in Beverly Hills. Gary's wife Arleta and his sons Chris and Scott gave a history of Gary's career. Tom Murphy, Wally Clark, Norm Epstein, Joanne Worley, John Rappaport, Fred Willard, sitcom writer Arnie Kogen, Laugh-Inproducer George Schlatter and San Francisco Chronicle columnist Ben Fong-Torres all shared their memories of working with Gary. The two-hour service concluded with the playing of the tape of Gary breaking up while reading a commercial for Preparation H...so that gives me the perfect reason to post the link again:
