G Rock Radio Retro weekend

I've been listening since they kicked this off at 2pm. I think that this is the BEST that this station has sounded in any of it's incarnations.

I beg all of you at Press, KEEP THIS UP!!!!! some amazing songs (obviously there's a throwaway here and there, but nothing that I can't sit through to get to another one)

Heard some STP, Filter, Soundgarden, Cypress Hill that aren't your typical "singles" and I feel that with these songs continuing in regular rotation, it will solidify its stance with the alternative (true alternative) crowd.

If you haven't listened, check it out and see what you think.

Cheers,
Burnett

Absolutely, I agree with you. It is so great to hear Weezer's Pinkerton album and the Cherry Poppin Daddies followed by Depeche Mode in a row.

Now why can't this "deep" classic alternative be mixed in with new alternative more?

Cheers G Rock Radio!

I totally agree. Hearing "Female of the Species" by Space brought me back.

Keep it up!

I agree, Press is doing an excellent job with G-Rock.

I have friends well outside of Monmouth/Ocean that are listening too, many are former WXRK or WPLY listeners.

And, truth be told, it ain't bad. Nothing you wouldn't have heard on 90.5 The Night, or on the Altrok Radio web stream, over the past year, though...and I should point out that the last time they did a weekend this good, the PD left and they veered rapidly toward "safe". It'd be nice if this were a sign of confidence in pushing the envelope...time will tell.

Aaah, who'm I kidding? "Safe" makes them lots of money - what incentive is there for them to change?

Q 101 in Chicago is doing something similar "Fall Classics Weekend"

I listened to G Rock online last night and the classic weekend they're doing sounded great.
______________

I agree wholeheartedly. This weekend was the best that WHTG has sounded under Press ownership by a country mile. In addition to what you said, I heard Charlatans, Catherine Wheel, Possum Dizon, and other acts I haven't heard on the radio in years (aside from on the late, great WDOX). It was absolutely fantastic - if only they could integrate these songs into their playlist every day. Of course, it's back to business as usual, with the bland likes of No Doubt, Nickelback and 3 Doors Down (among others) getting played ad nauseum.

On a side note: Check out the Antisocial Club on Saturdays from 10 PM to 2 AM. It's a very humorous and engaging show and I think many of you will enjoy it.
