G Rock Radio's Retro Rock Weekend

This weekend, G Rock Radio is breaking open the vaults for their Retro Rock Weekend, which they do every few months or so. Any fan of Alternative Rock will want to tune in - it's only been going on for a half hour and I've already been surprised several times by what I've heard. Examples: G Love & Special Sauce's "I-76" and 311's "Do You Right".

The eclecticism and the ability to dig a little deeper is what makes this weekend so exciting. This is the sound (combined with currents, of course), that G Rock Radio should go for full-time. I think the ratings would be just as strong, if not better than what they are now. Definitely reminds me of the good old days of WHTG. It's enough to win over even the biggest alterna-snobs - this statement coming from one.

This weekend was just too good. Each Retro Rock Weekend has sounded better than the one that came before it. I really wish that G Rock Radio would do this more often - we're lucky if we get it every 4-6 months, and that's rather unfortunate. It really disappoints me to see a station with such a vast library of alternative rock use only about 2% of it - rather than sealing up the vaults, they should leave it open and play these songs all the time. The station will sound better and less predictable for it. After all, one can only hear generic rubbish like Puddle Of Mudd and Switchfoot so many times, along with boy bands like Fall Out Boy and All American Rejects.
