G-Unit Radio on WQHT = Blatent Payola

Substandard to medipcre rapper 50 cent buys time (like half hour blocks) every saturday on Funk Flex's show to promote his "brand." WQHT discloses nothing, making this pay-for-play spot payola.

Emmis sucks more than 50 cent.

and now 50 is in a beef with Cam'ron. Even though "Cuuurrrtis" is hot, Ronnie should make a song sampling the "Who shot ya" beat, rapped from 50's point of view called "Who shot me?"

50 is from the rich suburb of Jamaica queens and if he didn't pay for g-unit radio then he'd still be a no-name rapper.

Jamaica and Hillside Avenues and Jamaica Center certainly don't look much like a suburban pleasantville to me.

To me 50 cent and G-unit are a hip-hop monopoly that are involved in payola, but then we never hear about this on the news. It's not fair to all the underground rappers who are trying to make it.. and plus all of G-units songs sound alike..

time will tell if it happens again tomorrow. no matter, I'll be listen to free fm all day, and hot's gotta be wary of playing g-unit knowing how much the dipset served them

Pretty much anything in the genre these days sounds the same.

Brooklyn, Jamaica is no rich suburb. Just because there are backyards and lawns does not make it rich or him a Trump There are backyards to some homes in Harlem, not the yuppie parts I mean the GULLY parts. Many of the homes in South Central and Compton have front and back yards, true me a little patch of grass does not a rich kid make.

G unit radio may not be payola, sometimes labels do pay for time like if they are spotlighting a new album release, radio companies do a special highlighting the album tracks and interview with the artist. It may not be as well pronounced as "G Unit radio" but it's the same principle.

I dont think he would be a no name rapper though, he had the backing of Dre and Eminem, remember his first album flopped and nobody would have heard of him had he not been sponsored by Eminem, it's as if his first record never existed!. Like Everlast when he was part of Ice T's Rhyme Syndicate, nobody remembers his first Vanilla Ice like record, House of Pain made him legit. 50's as weak as it gets as a rapper, I just watched "get rich or die tryin'" and Ill never get that two hours of my life back, what a waste!

NEO11 >>>I wouldn't really call Jamaica, Queens "rich" or a "suburb" for that matter.<<<

ALTHOUGH THIS IS OFF TOPIC FOR THIS RADIO MESSAGE BOARD, IT HAS BEEN REPORTED AND IT'S KNOWN THAT SOUTHEAST QUEENS WHICH INCLUDES JAMAICA HAS THE HIGHEST CONCENTRATION OF MIDDLE CLASS BLACKS (I DON'T NEED TO BE POLITICALLY CORRECT) IN THE COUNTRY. AND BLACKS IN SOUTHEAST QUEENS ARE ON THE SAME ECONOMIC LEVEL AS THEIR WHITE COUNTERPARTS.

GETTING ON TOPIC, IF 50 CENT IS BUYING TIME ON WQHT LIKE IT HAS BEEN REPORTED IN THE START OFF THIS THREAD IT SHOULD BE INVESTIGATED.

THANKS,
KEVIN L. SEALY

Listen if he's so rich why did he deal so many drugs and get shot so many times as a result? ( and please let's avoid the obvious racist cliche explanation) . Listen he aint the Fresh Prince of Bel Aire and even if he were that really has no bearing on 50 as an artist or "G unit radio". Again if it is in fact an info-mercial of sorts Im not sure that makes it "payola" as labels pay for specials highlighting artists and new releases all the time. They're just called "interviews specials". Same purpose and principle though, to sell the product.

Simple solution

Run a sweeper that reads "....financial support has been contributed by 50 Cent" or "the preceeding was a paid commercial message."

Legal payola!

Yeah like I said, it's an Infomercial, its a spot. Why get all up in arms about it? I suspect its just because BrooklynDon who obviously doesnt like 50 as a rapper, well let's just say he has a strange, skewed, idea about what is "cool" and what is not according to his quasi hipster sensibilities. Whatever, if you think it's a cheap sell ouut dont listen to it. What's the difference between say G Unit radio and "Shade 45" on Sirius? have you listeneed to it? they are forced to pump every bad Eminem/Aftermath, G unit release thatc omes along, because it's "Eminem's channel" which he never appearas on!. Different being Sirius pays Marshall to brand his channel with his name, voice etc. but they're still obligated to play everything /everyone on his stable of artists and a lot of them are just crap including a lot of 50's stuff that does not get Fm airplay becuase of content etc.

hey I never once made a value judgement on whether it was good or bad payola, I just said that it was.

On the other hand, I think it really hurts funk flex's credibility that he tries to pass off this "show" as live radio becasue they have 50 Cent and the G-Unit shouting him out every time they change songs. Look, we all know Flex is a big guy and needs a break to eat. g-unit radio fills that goal.

And by the way towerbuzz, 50 Cent is not hot on the streets anymore. Dipset is.

Uhhhh well considering 50 has sold like 30 million albums I doubt he's worried that "Brooklyndon" on some radio chat board doesnt' think he's "hot in the street". Dont get me wrong I think 50 is about as medicore as it gets but then again what "Street" are you qualified to proclaim who is hot in, havent you stated here that live in Williamsburg, yeah that's real Gully son!, that's the heart of the "hood".

Gimme a break Kid.

::)

Also I dont see Funk Flex's cred in any danger because you dont approve of G unit radio, the average listener doesnt know what Payola is nor do they care. And you did say it was bad payola. The whole tone of your post was "this is wrong, 50 is weak he comes from a rich suburb"

PS Dipset is cool.

Ibarely live in Williamsburg. I actually live on Cook street, which is 2 blocks from bushwick, six blocks from marcy projects and like 30 blocks from n 6th street. For all intents and purposes I live in bed-Stuy. Look, when i walk down graham by mckibben street, when i walk by varet, when i walk down tompkins or down whippple, I hear Ballin, I hear Touch it or not, i don't hear anything 50 does. Dipset is what's hot in the streets, and I am in a unique position to hear it. Am I saddended that I can't get WFNX down hear? Yes, yes i am. But whatever, I've adapted by listening to hip-hop and its pretty sitty of you to challange my credentials when ypu've never once tried to walk a day in my shoes. I have a feeling a boston flake like you, cool enough to know that williamsburg is home to the yuppies, but prejudicial enough to think that a community of 250,000 is all yuppies, wouldn't hack down here on the southeast side of williamsburg. But enough about pereption. Point is, 50 is worried which is why he put out 2 diss tracks when dipset only had to put out 1 and 50 still got served and ther e is no demnying. Can you honestly tell me 50's diss tracks combined were more powerful than curtis?
