g4/ esquire

thoughts on the channel " Esquire"
- And, the g4 audience...where will
the kids, adults living at home, and
people like me older but on my own.....kinda lol
go for video game related programming?

the internet. .? unlikely as it always some amateur
hack on youtube...or a link that requires way
to much work
....
....second thought, this is a crazy question but here it goes
..how much would it cost to start up a national channel...
with a clever name to win back the
losing g4 audience...
losing g4 audience u say? i know i only tune in once in a great while..
to see what they are doing so im not shocked by the switch,
but am bummed

I suggest "The Electric Playground Daily" (or "EP Daily"), a TV program about video games, electronics, and movies, and "GameTrailers TV", a TV program primarily about video games. "The Electric Playground Daily" is available to local TV stations through broadcast syndication and "GameTrailers TV" is available to SpikeTV. . Past editions of the programs are available on their official World Wide Web sites.

And it seems we have an (approximate?) date for G4 taking on the Esquire TV moniker...

According to an e-mail I received from Verizon Fios:

"On or after April 22, 2013, the content provider will replace G4 programming on FiOS TV channel 191 with Esquire TV programming."

Additionally...

"Esquire TV programming will feature gaming and technology and will also span a wide variety of additional content, including entertainment, food, fashion, women, humor, and travel."

Every so often I tune into the SD feed (because that's the only option I have with Fios) to check out whatever is showing on G4. It seems like in the past month, the only they have going for themselves is some random James Bond flick which is probably also running concurrently on some other Comcast/Universal-owned station at that time.

this may be a much needed improvement..
besides cops on g4 and the
attack of the show( see below) they never
really have original or focused programming...

attack of the show..
sometimes the talents review would games
that I am semi-interested in...
or, the agenda of the show to have
a game that was in their best interest...

Or, a game that is very niche...and back to me,
tuning out, since I am not in the
loop of veeery new games/or games that
are "very hip".

last viewing: summer 2012 or so

EP is not going back to G4/Esquire. They were on the schedule when G4 started in 2003, but from what I know they were pushed further and further off the prime part of G4's schedule until they asked to be pulled off in 2006.

I haven't even stopped on G4 for more than a minute since the last episode of AOTS aired in January. Truly a waste of channel space, and I'm hoping for a quick fail of Esquire even though I know Comcast will burn money on it for years to come.

^I was not suggesting "The Electric Playground Daily" returns to G4 (or Esquire), I was responding to the question posted by Radio_bored-Op about where former viewers and listeners of G4's programming could go for programming related to video games.

Ahh, my mistake, I misread and thought you suggested EP goes back to G4/Esquire (though my reasoning stands why they wouldn't go back there). Sorry about that. Serves me right for popping up three tabs here at the same time when I catch up after work. :p

I'm sure this has been covered before, but for those who miss the original techtv programming, they can find most of the same staff doing most of the same thing at these two places:
http://www.twit.tv
http://www.revision3.com

Since Revision3 is owned by Discovery, the next time one of their networks fails, maybe they can rebrand it as a tech network and see how that does...
