just wondering if anybody knew about what's going on with the two big adult contempo stations on this side of the state. mix 102.9 here in gadsden is playing way more hard rap than they have ever played, they sound too much like the q. and k98 down in oxford is confusing, they're doing really soft music or country, but it's so bad they're not even worth playing in an elevator. has their been any ownership/programming changes? i used to listen to them a lot but they are so awful that I've dropped them both for xm. this side of alabama needs a good middle-of-the-road station for adults, i guess i'm just stuck with satellite

Agreed on 102.9. They sounded much better when they were leaning rock and filling the coverage hole WRAX's frequency swap left behind. Perhaps they've shifted because of Q's move away from Anniston/Gadsden.

K98 is playing more 80s than they used to and less (more like no) rhythmic stuff, but they've always floated back and forth between CHR and AC like this. 6 months from now, they'll sound like they did 6 months ago.

And neither of these stations has changed owners ever, AFAIK. They've both been basically what they are today since they were originally dropped in 15 years ago.

I think most of the other "classic" (as well as some non-classic) call letters have been taken by stations in other markets. I know that WMXQ (the successor to I-95) is taken by Cox's '80's station in Jacksonville.
