6. WTMG Urban
7. WYKS Top 40
8. WRUF Country
9. WHIJ Contemporary Christian
10. WTRS Country

I noticed that the former WKZY didn't get a mention anywhere among the 35 stations mentioned. WPLL brought up the bottom of the list at number 35. Quite a few local stations were beat by out of town signals including WXJZ, WMFQ, WBXY and all of the AMs. WVLG (#19) did the best among AMs with a 0.9, followed by WRUF-AM (#20) with a 0.8. WJHM was the highest ranked out of town station with a 2.0 (11th place).

WHIJ and WJLF, when aggregated, have a combined rating of 4.1 which would displace WYKS for 7th.

The news here isn't WXJZ, WMFQ, WBXY, WKZY, etc. They are smaller players in the game (bless their hearts though). Now, take a look at the big players. A closer look at the Top 5. Okay, what looks unusual to you? Who has been on a downward skid in the past 4 Eastlan quarterlies? Whose best days just may permanently be in the rear view mirror? ::)

WOGK is the only station with a negative trend going, but in light of the considerable pressure being applied by WRUF and WTRS, I'd say they're still doing well. I noticed that there are no out of market country stations listed, so the local stations have fully captured 100% of the available listeners.

Although not a recent phenomenon, I actually think WKTK's slide from dominant #1 to the middle of the pack is quite interesting.

I also think it's interesting that small players like WYKS and WTMG both pull respectable numbers while WMFQ, WXJZ & WBXY are struggling despite having good signals in at least half the market. This suggests format problems and/or lack of promotion.

Quick observations...

WSKY may have benefitted from the election in this book. N/T skews very old (65+) and very male, so WOGK is most likely still firmly entrenched atop the numbers that matter most: A25-54 & W25-54.

With the election over, don't be shocked to see WSKY drop back to its usual spot...
