Gainesville-Ocala Ratings Fall 2005

From the Arbitron Web site:

Top 10 (I arbitrarily exclude Orlando stations)

WOGK/country
WSKY/news-talk
WRUF/rock
WKTK/AC
WTRS-WYGC/country
Wind-FM/classic rock
WTMG/urban
WYKS/CHR
WMFQ/oldies
WXJZ/smooth jazz

WDVH/classic country & WGGG-WMOP/sports just missed.

WJHM and WCFB were the Orlando stations in the full top 10.

WSKY had a huge increase, and WOGK, Rock 104, WTRS, and Wind-FM had nice increases.

The Pamal stations were all down. It looks like the sample favored Marion county more than usual. I wish someone could post info on Alachua county only.

I love these guys......From absolutely nothing, to being pretty much the crown jewel of Pamal (with the exception of WTMG). Is Jim Brand still there?? If so, he my hero, after WLUS languished in obscurity for so long.

By the way, did we ever find out why the market is "embargoed", and has been, for so long??

Jim Brand is still at it. A blurb from the Web site:

6:00 am to 10:00 am WDVH Mornings with Jim Brand:
Jim Brand was playing country favorites when the Spanish came ashore to discover Florida… or at least it seems that way. He joined WDVH AM in 1970 and has become a local legend. He’s an upbeat, cheerful and a mischievous morning personality.

It's all WDVH-FM in this batch of ratings but I think Gainesville was short-changed in the sample more than just for the larger population in Marion county. K-Country brought in a second ratings service (Eastlan?) which probably is the cause of the embargo.
