Gainesville-Ocala Spring 2013 Ratings

http://ratings.****************/cgi-bin/rol.exe/arb550

Arbitron has finally released some new numbers but not sure if they mean anything. Entercom, MARC, UF, and Gillen are subscribers. The MARC stations are listed with a variety of owner names from the Pamal days. Formats are wrong for WPLL (Contemporary Christian) and WDVH (Talk).

I'm not sure I'd change the format on WDVH, while at the same time I would not rule it out; However, WPLL definitely needs a complete overhaul. I may have mentioned this once before in a different thread, but I gave James Morrell the winning format for 106.9 in 2001 when Pamal first acquired it as adult standards WKZY. He didn't appear very interested. As a result, the station has programmed a variety of formats over the years, none of which came close to the format I gave Pamal, and none of them has produced any meaningful ratings nor has the station produced any meaningful billing. Hot Adult Contemporary has lasted the longest on that frequency. If Marc Radio really wants to turn that station around, it really isn't that difficult to "fix". I turn stations around all the time giving management something to sell that advertisers actually want.

This ought to get the comments going, Mark. I haven't checked the formats and number of signals, strengths, move-ins, etc., in the market, so I won't offer up a format option. I will say you have said one thing that most folks on this board will understand if they understand radio. The advertisers are your audience. You have to pick a format for "them." National ad agencies are amazingly closed to certain demographics and the preconceptions of who buys what, when and why. Makes it tough. Anyone wanna play the format shell guess game? Mark, you probably don't wanna play, but at least it would be kinda interesting to debate what would be a better plan to increase the revenues and/or ratings.

What I meant to say is that the formats listed in the Radio-Online rankings are incorrect for WPLL & WDVH.

Yes, WDVH is still listed as classic country while WPLL is listed as N/A. Non applicable? Hmm, it was CCM the last time I checked.

I won't say here what I have for obvious reasons. I charge a fee for consulting services that gets results. If Marc Radio is interested, they know how to contact me since my contact information can be found on the home page of my website - www.jmtillery.com. I don't need the money, but I loooooooove a challenge.

You turn around stations "all of the time" (your words)? Really? What were the call letters for last three you did, or for that matter, for any that you have done at anytime? Specifics give your claims of expertise and higher education legitimacy and credence, but I am predicting more vagueness and dodging. I am sure you will attempt to claim things like this are "confidential", but if I was a station owner you had helped in the past I would be singing your praises from the highest tower.

Really O.K.? Seriously? Do you all not think that some of the strategies used back then by Dr. Tillery could be used again today? that right there is part of the reason he cannot speak on certain things because it would open up valuable info to others that would cost him in the short and long term. Plus, if you don't believe Dr. Tillery on his word, how about taking a look at this: http://cflradio.net/jeffrey_mark_tillery_bio.htm. Also look at this and read the story behind what is today's Magic 101.3 in Gainesville when it started out as Hot 92.1 in Williston: http://cflradio.net/101.3_WTMG_FM.htm. I think next time when you want to knock someone's success, do your homework before speaking.

That biography and the "story" you cite were written by Dr. Tillery, Esquire, himself, so take that for whatever it is worth. You call that homework? Keep believing everything he says and writes - that is your choice.

JAWilson explained my reasoning better than I can. If I gave away my strategies, then what I have essentially done is given anyone who reads my public post the same information I have in which case I will have created unwanted and unnecessary competition. While, as a professional courtesy, I do sometimes give away certain information and even implement said recommendations at no charge, I do not make it a regular practice.

Regarding the Gainesville – Ocala market, my consulting engineer and I have already spent thousands of clock hours and three years, so far, investigating every AM and FM station in the market to determine which ones can improve signals and which ones cannot due to it being cost prohibitive. Our findings have been quite impressive. Format, imaging, marketing and everything else will come afterwards. I will not give away for free what my engineers and I have spent countless hours and substantial financial resources discovering.

Since I had mentioned WPLL, I will say 106.9 is one of the stations that can realize a significant signal improvement. Although very little can be done to gain Ocala, there are a few things that can be done to greatly improve its Gainesville coverage. I won’t go into any further details for reasons I have already explained. Furthermore, I have stations under contract now that I am consulting. Because we are in the process of turning these stations around, meaning the turnaround process is not completed, it would be a breach of my agreement with the station owners to divulge station call letters. Even giving the market would still narrow it down. If anyone refuses to understand the reasoning behind the confidentiality because someone has an obvious agenda, the problem lies solely with that single person or those individuals who choose to think otherwise.

No further acknowledgement or explanations will be given by me.

There you have it boys and girls - the Doctor has spoken. Still no specifics on turning stations around "all of the time" or ever in the past, but he has spoken none the less.

Doesn't RD have ratings anymore?

-Rob

I haven't seen the ratings published on RD in quite sometime, so I don't believe they are available on Radio-Info.Com any longer. The best place to find the published numbers is either RadioOnline.Com or you can go direct to Arbitron www.arbitron.com.

Keep trying to deflect the real questions, Dr. Tillery, Esquire. The truth is becoming more and more apparent each time you post.
