Galloway on XM

They are too local, which means what? GAC WON'T BE! More of the liquidation and obfuscation of the Worldwide Leader. Good on ya' ESPN.

Bastards. ;D

gotta be honest. What is in it for either party? What does GAC get out of it? What does XM get out of it... If GAC was already in other markets, and this was a way to lead further syndication, mabey...seems like a silly exercise.

Yep.
They're airing it tape delayed 7-10pm. So it's not like they're going to get callers out of it...

Then consider this. What buisness are they in? Selling advertising by creating programming that people want to listen to. Airing nationwide, tape delayed, does absolutely NOTHING to add to the audience that they are actually trying to sell.

The Ticket is one of the top 2 biling stations in the market last year. This might gain GAC noteriety, but it does nothing (as far as I can tell) to either increase their stations ratings or increase their stations revenue.

The 2 places where KTCK is beating the pants off of ESPN.

Maybe GAC gets some compensation, but this is just a move by ESPN to program something in place of ESPNEWS, and plugging in local hosts is a cheap solution, since they don't get a cut of the subscription money and exclusive content isn't worth ESPN's investment. ABC Radio did it when they still had ABC News & Talk, and Radio One did the same when they programmed The Power. Clear Channel has two entire stations on XM, due to a prior investment, and two local Orlando shows on, and Clear Channel doesn't pay them a dime and it does nothing to help their ratings or advertising. Many local shows hated being on satellite (some still do), and others like it because they get to take calls from markets like New York City and Chicago and any other city they could only dream of being on locally in, so they get to call themselves a "national radio show." I don't really like when they do that, since satellite radio is not syndication.

In connection with this, I was driving on 121 south today and noticed the Rail Head was out of business.
Randy used to pack em in at that place on Monday nights.

I wonder how much it hurt their business when he quit broadcasting from there?

I doubt Randy Galloway broadcasting from there one day a week for the football firing line had much to do with their demise...I will miss that ICE COLD beer...
