Gamble turns down SportsTalk

hahahahahaha.... as a man, i respect him more than most people i work with. his priorities are in the right place. as a radio host, i'm glad he sees that he is too small for the job. he's a skit, a segment, a weekend show guy - anything but primetime, and the past few months have shown.

i say they put lance in there. fire skinny, and call it a day. the fact that lance and skinny are the only two local hosts on 1530 is a joke.

i've switched to andy, and super talk. he's really hit his stride, and it sounds great.

First off, I completely respect Mr. Gamble for having his priorities straight. His family should come first.

That said, I've not cared for his solo gig doing SportsTalk. When paired with Skinner he was much better. The Two Angry Guys thing was fun and wacky. I wish CC would just let Gamble go back to doing that, but with all the budget cutting there I doubt that happens.

And speaking of Furman, I've found myself listening to him more and more even though I never cared for him when he was on WLW. He seems to have toned down his act and it's a more relaxing, enjoyable listen than it used to be. And as much as I like Lance, his hyper-mode style has always worn on me. Furman is more laid back these days and there are far fewer commercial interruptions on 96.5. The clutter and interruptions on HOMER are almost intolerable.....6-7 minute break, Lance does a live spot for some online betting site, rants about something for a minute, takes one caller, and then it's back to more commercials. Furman by contrast may go 15 minutes and take several calls between breaks. He also seems to take the time to chat with his callers rather than rushing along. I find this more conversational tone more appealing and less grating on my nerves. CC better take a long hard look at this or more and more people will be gravitating over to Furman on 96.5.

amen to that. i've totally switched, both on air and online. my drive home sports itch used to be lance only, and you're right - the attention-deficit-disorder format gets old. putting 17 topics "on the board" at one time is not a way to run a show. he seems awkward with callers - laughing at odd times, and his sitcom father kind of approach to life. creeps me out. anyway, andy is having a blast. i listened today on the way home, and he was having fun with his former gig, naming names @ WLW, and having a great back-and-forth with callers. it's a great show. good luck, mr. parks.

It looks like CC may have shot themselves in the foot by firing Furman. The current 700 WLW isn't what it used to be. Too bad it is a shell of its former self(Remember when McConnell felt local before going regional?). Anyhow, Furman has quite a following. The ratings will tell the story, but I bet Furman squashes anyone that "The Big One" ends up putting on "SportsTalk". End of story. ;D

You have longer time to talk without any spots! 96.5 made a big splash with Furman, but come next year, the new toy will be in the bottom of the toy box. Stale. Just like the rest of the market.

Grab your Ipod. And drive away....

I wonder if WLW wishes they could have Furman back?

Did WLW toss out 'After Innings' when they sacked Furman?

I can't seem to find out what programming WLW will air after the Reds games. It certainly will be different without Andy or Tracy Jones coming on after the games.

It is extra innings and it never started until after the Reds regular season. I'm sure it will be back, even if its Seg who hosts it.
