Gambling to 970

John's WABC show was a great real talkradio show. No wind bag monologues but interesting topics and guests and caller interaction. It was an old fashioned talk show done the way radio was before Rush and the hundreds of a Rush wannabes decided that a xerox of a Rush was the ONLY way to go!

WNYM should try to move Gambling to am--drive against
Barsky on 710 & Imus on 770. Maybe for a bit more $$$ ---
Gambling would get up early again.
(AND---
how long will 710 search for its next am-drive host or just give it
'to Barsky ? )

it does not matter who is on 710, 770, 970. These stations will never get high ratings with right wing windbags 24 /7.
Will Gambling be told to be more right wing on 970? That would be sad.

John is right wing but not nuts right wing like a Hannity or Beck. He is against gay marriages and in line with a lot of conservative beliefs. But he is civil and not an attacker and therefore is able to get good guests. I think he does a good talk show but will anyone listen on 970? Only time will tell.

John Gambling made it clear that he was retiring from MORNING radio, not radio. I can certainly understand why he chose to do that (perhaps with some encouragement from CC) BUT --- here's another possible scenario:

- Gambling does 11 am - 1 pm to get acclimated to doing the show via ISDN and work out the kinks.
- Then after a couple of months the show moves to 7 am - 9 am. Remember, that's WNYM's Morning Drive.

If given the choice of a time slot, which would you rather have -- one that interrupts the middle of the day or one that means getting out of bed at 5:30 or 6:00 am (as opposed to 2:30 or 3:00 am and driving to lower Manhattan) and having the rest of the day after 9 am free?

So maybe Gambling in the morning isn't out of the question after all.

Gambling likely would bring more listeners to WNYM if he did the morning show.
But its unlikely WNYM will ever challenge WOR or WABC in the ratings in any way.
A more interesting spot for Gambling would be the morning show on WBBR.

WABC should have hired Gambling for 10am to Noon again. And---- Get rid of horrible Geraldo.
