Gambo & Ash leaving 910?

I heard a caller ask tonight if they were leaving, Barry Markson said they made an announcement on their show but gave no details. What happened? Where are they going? KTAR? What time?

Nothing "happened"...they just opt'ed out of their contract & are taking the show elsewhere. When Ash signed off, he said they'd see the listeners down the road. It makes sense...there's so much restructuring going on at CC Phx - they'll be better off anywhere but there. IMO, G&A are talented & they'll make it wherever they go.

Well, so much for my thought that their show was the only safe one on XTRA. ;D

Keith...??? You've got it all wrong. Opt'ed out of a contract means this was their option year & THEY chose not to re-sign & take the show on the road. Your theory about "safe" is way off base. CC was more than willing to re-sign them & wanted to. It was G&A's choice to leave...no drama, no particular reason...just that they want to see where the show can go.

OK, I read that wrong. I thought it was CC that didn't excersize their option on G&A and let them go.

Either way, I think they'll end up on KTAR if they want to go there (I can't see TMISU not wanting them since they're the #1 sports-talk duo in town). I can't see them anywhere else in this market unless Gumpdusky decides to resurrect KDUS and hires them.

According to this article in today's Tribune, KTAR isn't interested in hiring them. Asked if they were interested in hiring G&A, Ryan Hatch, program director for TMISU, said "At this point, no."

Keith, Keith, Keith...here we go again!! :) You need to get your eyes checked, buddy!!

2nd post you've gotten wrong.

Here's your post:

According to this article in today's Tribune, KTAR isn't interested in hiring them. Asked if they were interested in hiring G&A, Ryan Hatch, program director for TMISU, said "At this point, no."

Then you give the link. And when you read the link, you didn't even copy the words right!! You totally editorialized it!!

From the article: During the day reports surfaced in the Valley’s broadcast community that the pair would move to KTAR (620 AM) when that station moves to an all-sports format in January.
“That’s the rumor I’ve heard, but I’ve got no deal,” Asher said.
Ryan Hatch, KTAR’s new program director, said of such reports, “It’s news to me.”
Asked if he planned to hire the duo, Hatch said, “At this point, no.”

Keith, my man, get it straight. You say Ryan Hatch says "Asked if they were interested in hiring G&A, Ryan Hatch, program director for TMISU, said "At this point, no."

When, in fact, the article says, "Asked if he planned to hire the duo, Hatch said, “At this point, no.”

There is a big difference between "interest" & "planning to hire the duo."

Stick to the facts, Keith. You're completely putting words in Ryan Hatch's mouth!! He may very well have an interest in them, but that isn't what the reporter asked. He asked if Hatch was planning on hiring them, and since they don't even have a deal, the clear answer is no.

Semantics. Either way, I think Hatch is blowing smoke. TMISU would be crazy to not make them an offer. Whether G&A accept is up to them, of course.

But if KTAR wants to be a legit sports-talker (as opposed to a good outlet for play-by-play, which they already are), they need to hire Gambo & Ash. They're the #1 sports-talk guys in Phoenix radio. They won't be out of work long.

I guess it is too much to ask for the McPublic, AZ's biggest print media, to have an article mentioning this. I am a subscriber so I can rightfully complain.

Remember The Repulsive's connections to XTRA: Gambo, with his AZCentral column, and Dan Bickley being both columnist for the paper and morning guy on 910. I wonder if Gambo asked them not to print anything for the time being (just speculating, of course).

Well it doesn't look like it's hurt Gambo's relationship with the Repooooooblic since he has a new article posted online today. It makes no mention of him leaving the station.

LOL!!! LOL!!! :D Yes, when the almighty powerful John Gambadoro speaks, the major newspaper in town listens!! Are you kidding me?? If the Republic wants to print a story, they're going to print a story. Period. I like Gambo a lot, but a newspaper doesn't give two flying fat rat's arses what he or anyone has to say. (And you wouldn't want them to!) And because they're media-saavy, Gambo & Ash at this point want all the publicity they can get to perpetuate a big splash, so you can bet they're not telling any outlets to stay away anytime soon.

And when Bick & MJ got suspended, the story appeared the next morning in the Republic.
