Game of Thrones Renewed For Fourth Season

The season premiere drew over four million viewers, which is a substantial number of viewers for a shows seen on a premium cable network that you have to pay extra for.

Had "Game Of Thrones" been on a basic cable network, it's premiere may have drawn 8-9 million viewers; had it been on a broadcast network, the show may have drawn 11-13 million viewers.

If HBO is happy with "Game of Thrones'" numbers, imagine how AMC is feeling about "The Walking Dead" numbers.

If "The Walking Dead" was on broadcast TV then it would have drawn 15-16 million viewers and bury everything including terrible shows like the Voice and American Idol.

Not surprising. The show is awesome. Now if they would only make it easier to buy instead of making people wait nearly a year after it airs to purchase it on DVD.

Impossible. Season 2 was not made available for purchase until February of this year. Season 3 is on track to be the same way unless you live in Australia.

I'd say the Walking Dead holds the title of "hottest show on TV right now"- even though it goes to a wider available audience than Game of Thrones.

These numbers are still very impressive for HBO, though. Didn't the Sopranos regularly draw 5 or 6 million viewers per new episode? I seem to remember one of the season premieres passing the 10 million viewer mark. Is my memory hazy?
