The two weeks leading up to the holidays, GSN runs old black and white game shows from 3 to 4 a.m. Eastern. The network has been doing this for quite a few years. It used to run black and white shows every late night until around 2010, then switched to color shows in all time slots. At 3 a.m., it's What's My Line, with John Daly as host, and Arlene Francis, Dorothy Kilgallen and Bennett Cerf as panelists. At 3:30 a.m., it's I've Got A Secret, with Gary Moore as host, and Betsy Palmer, Bill Cullen, Bess Myerson and Henry Morgan as panelists. Bess Myerson and Betsy Palmer were the last surviving panelists in these two shows, dying in 2014 and 2015.
This is only Monday night/Tuesday morning through Friday night/Saturday morning, this week and next. Sorry to report, we missed two of the ten nights this year. I think it ends on Dec. 31.
Anyone who lives in an area where Buzzr is available will say, what's the big deal? Black and white 1950s and 60s game shows are on everyday on that network. But Buzzr is only available in some markets. And even where its available, your local cable system might not carry it. Where I am, Spectrum has Buzzr on Channel 1270. I imagine many folks may not even know it's there.
So until Christmas, enjoy some "Late Night Black and White" shows on Game Show Network.
