gangster rap criticized by sheriff

speaking on kdwn 720 radio, law and order sheriff Bill Young said that gangster rap concerts were a law enforcement problem including one held at the Thomas and Mack Center...are Las Vegas and LA rap radio stations to blame?...

meanwhile pushy ego nut JD Wells is trying to push aside long time senior talk show host Tru Truman Hawkins during a "fill-in" on his morning show.

Will Hawkins be pushed aside the way Mark Edwards was moved to late nights, and Old Ted Bair was kicked of station to make room for Jim Dullis in the afternoon?

As kdwn trys for a younger demographic will Ken Stall be put out to pasture?

IMO, radio stations playing hip hop have nothing to do with crime. If Sheriff Young really wanted the crime rate to go down he would learn from the sheriff in Phoenix. He would open up tent prisons and make criminals do hard work in the desert heat.

What gave you the impression JD was trying to push out Tru? I only heard the end of that show, I thought it was nice when JD defended his "team mate" Jim Dallas after a caller criticized him for stuttering.

Are you sure Ted Bair was kicked off the station? My impression was that he wanted to retire in Idaho.

Is KDWN really trying to get younger demos? They don't subscribe to Arbitron and they sell few :60 second spots. They sell mostly infomercials aimed at an older audience. I doubt they even think about demographics.
I feel sorry for Ken Stahl. His partner in the morning never lets him talk.

Hartless Kirch really took Stahl to task for reading an article about tex-mex border crime from the RJ newspaper...stahl has a young son and I'm sure he likes getting the few bucks he gets from the little work he does on kdwn...

There seems like a shooting every day in the avenues in Phoenix ...so the tent city isn't working that great and it has swamp coolers in many of the tents..so they're not in the hot sun.

Tru truman Hawkins said he got back from new mexico were he bought a retirement property (he's said many times he will not retire in Las Vegas) he's not stupid he sees the writing on the wall for kdwn.

why would Groom-who owns a hearing aid company-- move his show/ads from kdwn to knxt/knuu if kdwn's senior demo is so good?
