Gannett tooting its own horn again

http://www.azcentral.com/sports/cardinals/articles/2009/09/08/20090908nfltv0909.html

Channel 12 indirectly competes with ESPN (in which local advertising is sold through the various cable systems that carry it) for local ad dollars.

When engaging in this sort of shameless self-promotion, doesnt Gannett normally at least take the liberty of stating that they own the Republic and KPNX? I don't see any such mention in this article (although I think someone pointed it out in the Comments section.)

Points to Gannett/the Republic for a timely article. The NFL switched the premier prime time game from Monday night to Sunday night years ago. The top game was always intended to be on broadcast TV - on ABC Monday nights and on NBC Sunday nights - and the "B" game on cable.

The Arizona Republic: If it's news to you, it's news to them

Think "flex scheduling," gentlemen. In the second half of the year, if the game originally scheduled for Sunday night turns out to be dogmeat, NBC can get a game with more significance in prime time. When MNF was on ABC, they wanted to try this, but it was a logistical nightmare ... but not on Sundays.
