Gap West Casper

A friend of mine is considering going to work for Gap West in Casper. Anyone with info about their operation in Casper. We know the stations, but what's it REALLY like working there??

The GM Bob Price is one of the best in the business in any market. OM is pretty cool too. Didn't work there but some great people are there. Casper isn't so bad either.

I haven't been in Casper since I worked for KVOC and KTRS in the early 80's but I can tell you, Bob Price is a great man, and even better broadcaster. He was over KTWO even then and just a very pleasant person to deal with on every occasion.

How could he be? He didn't even reply to my email when I told him I was very disappointed I never got to hear KMGW Star 96.7 before it changed format.

In all fairness, the general manager has an incredible number of responsibilities, and that number grows everyday. Programming decisions, however, aren't usually one of the general manager's responsibilities. The general manager is usually focused on sales and budgets. He will be aware of programming changes, but his responsibility is to help his sales managers and sales staff work with advertisers when a change happens. The operations manager and/or program director deals with the listeners and the record companies.

It seems most plausible that Bob either hasn't had/didn't have time to respond to your e-mail or, more likely, forwarded your e-mail to his operations manager or one of the program directors, who hasn't responded. I don't think the fact that he hasn't responded to your message indicates that he's unprofessional or inaccessible.

Something else to keep in mind is that changing formats is a lot of work for everyone involved. Even without the stress of a major format change, radio stations get inundated with letters and e-mails. So, it's possible you may hear from someone at the station eventually. Of course, if you sent nothing but a condescending letter and aren't in the local listening area, I can't blame them if they don't respond to you!

Your right. His not answering an email cancels out any personal interaction I had with him over my three plus years in the market. Give the guy a break. By your tone I don't know that I'd be in an all-fired hurry to answer either.

Bob Price and crew are very nice poeple. Was there in 1996-97 when Jacor took over KTWO radio group. Casper is a nice area, windy winters though....
