Gardenline to KTRH

KTRH's replacement for the Home Improvement Hotline is Gardenline from KPRC.

According to KTRH.com Gardenline will air weekends from 7a-10a. Of course, for those that have been in Houston forever, Gardenline used to be on KTRH 7 days a week, before being shuffled around in the late 1990's and then moved to KPRC in 2001.

Ah, yes - the good old days when Randy Lemmon and Tom Tynan dominated the time on KTRH. I can't make up my mind how CC is dividing up the local and syndicated shows for KTRH and KPRC. With the move of Limbaugh to KTRH I thought that maybe KTRH would have more and more syndicated shows and the locally hosted shows would migrate to KPRC. Neither KTRH or KPRC are "news" stations - both are predominantly talk stations and should be marketed as such.

What will go on KPRC wont really matter. If it works it too will find its way too KTRH.

Oh, man, did you bring back some hilarious memories of Randy Lemmon, who got fried on-air by a caller because the board-op was too slow on the delay dump-button. Anyone who knows Randy can ask him about that caller and how he "fertilized" that tree in his yard. Way too funny!

Tom Tynan was originally by himself and had a building/home-remodeling show that was rife with plugs for friends and manufacturers. Tom was never the brightest bulb in the lamp, but, was basically a good guy and easy to work with.

KTRH's "programming" was weird: news headlines, segueing into potting soil discussions, then into bathroom remodeling and then right back into the noon news-wheel. 50,000 watts of small-town radio. And, they still managed big ratings.

God bless America! ::)

Looking back that format was not so bad. Now it is a little news and a lot of big mouths with uneducated opinions. Houstonians have such low expectations.
