I was a competitor of his and loved the guy. He and I were sitting in a bar one evening just laughing (and hoping nobody would see us and tell Blum) He sat there and put together, on the spot 2 or 3 Just Ask Yourself features with no effort. He just saw the world from the perspective of that character. When I heard the feature on the air the next morning, and mornings after that I was amazed at how the content was just like he said it me that night.
Turns out when we left he went to Tower Place and recorded it while it was fresh on his mind.
I guess when a competitor is being tested as the Ginnie Pig, and that competitor is laughing so hard it hurts, he knew he had a good one.
He had many many good ones. And he seemed to downplay every compliment. I'm not for sure if he ever knew how good he really was.
