Gary DeGraide to leave LiteRock 105

> Im guessing Lite does something REALLY exciting and replaces
> him with Charlie Jefferds.

Frankly that would make sense from a comfort level point of view. The audience knows him. With that kind of longevity & profile he has at the station he's a hard guy to replace. Maybe they can convince Larry Kruger to move into afternoons. If they bring in an outsider he'd better have the same kind of personality Gary has.

RI Radio is so boring and predictable...so basically we won't get anyone new, just people changing jobs/hours, and Dave B. will pick up traffic on Lite in the AM.
BLAH.

Lite isn't looking for contest pimps & stunts in the morning or on any other shift. You have to maintain the station's image. Jimmy Gray had even done some fill-in last year, but we can only hope. Maybe they'll surprise us all & hire Carolyn Fox.

I'll offer one... How about David Jones? He didn't exactly leave WSNE on his own accord... I'm sure given the right situation, he would come back from his steak house up in New Hampshire to do mornings in Providence again... He's tested, tried, and true... especially in Providence... not that big of a gamble for LiteRock... not to mention, name recognition alone may pull in some listeners from Coast. He wouldn't come cheap, though Gary's probably up there in salary as it is... so it wouldn't be too much of a financial burden to Citadel...

I'm not sure if it makes sense, or if I'm just wishing to see the old Jones n Joan turn into Jones vs. Joan. ;)

Another good choice I'd like to see happen. I wonder how the restaurant is doing. I've been by it, but have never eaten there. Of course, there might be nothing to prevent him from owning the place & still working in Providence radio.

I'd like to see Big John Bina replace Gary. With his following,
he would do very well.

This is a case where change is good. that show is so stale.

Speaking of former B101'ers..

What about Paul Perry ?

Or Cruisin Bruce ?

Perry's been out of work since he got bumped in Chicago a few months back..
and Palmer could probably be talked back to Providence from Worcester since he knows RI better than Mass.

The sound of snow falling excites me more than Lite Rock Bore me to death 105.

Seriously. Maybe Paul Perry.

I think Gary did his job well.
Good luck to him!
Tony.

While I'm sure she has a noncompete, imagine the possibility of hiring David Jones and convincing Joan Edwardson to join him at Lite. That would leave Jessica to do her entertainment-obsessed valley girl act and Brian to talk about himself all morning on the Coast morning show.

> Perry's been out of work since he got bumped in Chicago a

Paul Perry is still on Chicago radio, broadcasting on the oldies-formatted WJMK-104.3's HD-2 frequency, which has turned it's main and HD-1 feeds into "104.3 Jack FM", just like what happened at WCBS-FM in New York.

I believe that Infinity is running WJMK HD-2 to burn out the contracts from the old station, where Perry is doing mornings to an audience of around 3 listeners. When that runs out, I wouldn't be surprised if he came back east.

At least WWLI-105.1 will probably hire someone local (or promote an existing announcer) to take over mornings.

They won't the route of WSNI-104.5 in Philadelphia, who dumpted their local morning show in favor of John Tesh, and saved a bundle of cash in the process!
