Gary Elmore Passes

Condolences to family and friends of CLEAR CHANNEL Talk KWHN-A/FORT SMITH, AR PD and morning host GARY ELMORE, who died MONDAY (6/7) from heart complications at 56, according to the FORT SMITH TIMES RECORD.
ELMORE was a veteran of several stations in the area, including KLMK and KINB/POTEAU, KFDF-A/VAN BUREN, and KTCS/FORT SMITH. He won the 2006 ARKANSAS ASSOCIATED PRESS President's Award and several other awards for his play-by-play work.

Gary was easily one of the best sportscasters that I can remember. Back when KWHN had the Southside Rebels, their Friday Night Football presentation was quite the production for that time. This would have been 1997 or so... I can hear that big deep voice right now bellowing "Touchdown Rebels!" with his wife sitting next to him keeping stats.

RIP Gary....
