So, Gary LaPierre is returning to WBZ 1030 for a week next week to fill the morning news anchor slot. Be nice to hear him do the news again, but honestly, it's like he never left with all the "traffic on the 3's" announcements he does at night, not to mention the commercials he does.

Gary left but has never been gone. He probably comes "home" for Christmas before returning to Fl for the winter so it's like a paid vacation.

Didn't he do the WBZ AM-drive news from a studio in his Florida home for several years before he retired? If I'm right and if that home studio was never taken apart (if it existed, I bet it's still there--enables him to do V/O work), he doesn't have to be in Boston to do that one-week curtain call next week. And who will be Ed Walsh's permanent replacement? If it were to be Rod Fritz, why wouldn't WBZ have already made the announcement?

Slightly off topic, but related. What are old BZer's Dave Maynard and Bruce Schweogler(sp) up to these days?
